We said NO to IHRA in Clifton!
On July 18th, almost 700 community members showed up to the City Council meeting Tuesday night to show their opposition to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Resolution. Those who spoke at the council meeting explained the detrimental effects the IHRA definition has on the Palestinian community’s right to organize and advocate for themselves. By showing out in hundreds, the Palestinian community was able to dismiss the resolution being introduced! You can watch the entire City Council meeting here.
PACC Summer Fun is here!
Our first 3-week session was a blast! Every day we were greeted with the excited and smiling faces of the kids ready to start their day at PACC. Our schedule for the kids consists of cooking lessons, a Palestine Education course called HOPE, empowerment workshops, coding, gym, arts & crafts, recess in our playground, lunch and so much more.
We have almost 80 kids registered for our summer program and are still accepting registrants for specific groups for our second three-week session, which begins on July 31! You can register for the second session on our website and you can also check out our PACC Summer Fun Album on Facebook for photos!
Arabic Storytime has started!
Our Arabic Storytime has been successful with 7 kids enjoying stories and crafts that taught them the animal names in Arabic. Check out the pictures on our Facebook page!
We hosted a Vigil for Jenin!
PACC hosted a vigil to commemorate the lives lost during the raid on Jenin this month. We read aloud the names of the martyrs who tragically lost their lives and held a moment of silence to honor them. We posted a reel on Instagram that captured some of the powerful words that were shared from our speakers.
We tabled at ICPC’s Summer Festival
We sold PACC merch and beautiful artwork by Artist Shihab Qawasmi at ICPC’s Summer Festival!
We had a successful Jerusalem Day!
PACC hosted the Executive Director of the Burj Al Luqluq Social Center and the artist Shihab Qawasmi, both from Jerusalem. We showcased and sold 50 pieces from Qawasmi’s incredible artwork that capture the beauty of Palestine’s historical landmarks, alleyways, and people. We also learned about the incredible work of the Social Center in Jerusalem and some of the adversities they faced being a Palestinian non-profit organization in Jerusalem. With 52 people in attendance, we were all inspired by the groundbreaking work that our guests are a part of. You can read more about Burj Al Luqluq Social Center here.
