RELATIONSHIP ABUSE
A type of behavior(s) used by one person to maintain power and control over another person. This type of abuse is not limited to intimate relationships, or those presently involved or living together. Abuse follows a pattern of escalation in which the controlling behaviors worsen over time. An abuser may also use systems in our society to assert privilege and control against the other person.
ORDER OF PROTECTION
A court order that tells one person what they cannot do to another person, or what contact is allowed; intended to reduce the risk of future harm.

to stay away from the victim & children
not to communicate with the victim by any means to vacate the residence to surrender all weapons to stop committing acts of physical & verbal abuse, stalking, property damage, cyber sexual abuse & identity theft
WE CAN HELP
FCLP staff will walk you through the court system and represent you on your initial appearance giving you the best chance to obtain an order of protection. If appropriate we will then refer you to other PWJC programs or community partners for further representation and support services.
