Call on us. Refer clients to us. Volunteer for us. Support us.

Our outreach and training programs raise awareness, share information, and train judges, police officers, attorneys, social service providers, law students, and the public about domestic violence and elder abuse. We build coalitions with other community organizations, share resources and information, and provide referrals to shelters, social service agencies, and care providers. Our vision: ensuring a just and safe environment for victims and survivors of domestic violence and elder abuse.

Each year, we serve thousands of victims and survivors of domestic violence and elder abuse who can’t afford the legal help they need. We train hundreds of professionals and we educate our community on issues of interpersonal abuse. We fight hard for our clients’ legal rights. We can help obtain orders of protection and provide legal services related to divorce, custody, support, financial exploitation, public benefits, housing, and other matters.

Pace Women’s Justice Center (PWJC) is Westchester County’s leading civil legal services and training provider addressing domestic violence and elder abuse. We are a nonprofit legal center located at Pace Law School, with satellite offices at the White Plains and Yonkers Family Courts. With an experienced staff and a team of dedicated volunteers, including attorneys, other professionals, and students, we have built an effective, coordinated community response to interpersonal violence.

Love shouldn’t hurt.

The need has never been greater. Domestic Violence happens

everywhere. One in four women will be abused in her lifetime. Westchester County police respond to more than 12,000 incidents of domestic violence every year. Only a small percentage of complainants go to court. That means that many people don’t get the legal assistance they need. Their safety is in jeopardy. Our compassionate, experienced attorneys work hard to help our clients stay safe from abuse.

We provide free, specialized legal services.

Right at the courthouse where we’re needed.

Plus options, answers, and referrals.

Outreach, education, and leadership.

Our Bridge the Gap Program offers free civil legal services to victims and survivors of domestic violence, including divorce, custody, support, and other matters arising from abuse.

Our Family Court Legal Program is on the frontline in helping victims obtain emergency protective orders for themselves and their children. No appointments needed—walk-ins welcome—at the White Plains and Yonkers Courthouses.

Our Moderate Means Program makes referrals to a panel of experienced private attorneys who offer lower-fee services to low- and middle-income clients. We also assist clients with referrals to community agencies and professionals for additional services.

Through innovative outreach events and training programs, we represent, mobilize, and educate.

Our free Legal Helpline offers information and guidance about victims’ rights and the court system. Callers can leave a confidential message any time, and one of our attorneys will return the call within 24 hours.

Our Pro Bono Legal Program utilizes dedicated volunteer attorneys, paralegals, other professionals, and students who contribute thousands of hours to support our vision.

Through our Elder Justice Program, our attorneys provide free legal services to Westchester residents aged 60+ who have experienced financial exploitation, physical abuse, housing and consumer problems, and other related issues. We also offer convenient, free clinics that educate the community on these issues.
