We live in a world where eyes don’t see. They may be open, they may be looking, they may be watching, but they are not seeing. They look at the beauty and ignore the raw, ugly truth that is so plainly offered in front of them. They choose to skip over it, perhaps glancing, perhaps acknowledging, but never truly seeing. They are not seeing the dark. The parts of the world we want to hide away from. The destruction, the humans giving their lives, the pure children forced away. The people whose lives are taken away in a matter of seconds. The ones that didn’t make it. They are the ones that eyes choose to ignore. These eyes want to shut away, close the blinds, and sit in blissful ignorance, but when the world comes crashing down and you have a front row seat, There’s no closing your eyes.
