Who are we? The fascinating world of interrelations When asked about the perfect pair an economist would answer ‘heads and tails’, an actor ‘Laurel and Hardy’, a doctor ‘cause and effect’, a philosopher ‘being and nonbeing’. Our answer would be: product and packaging. Of course it’s the packaging that interests most of all, though we are happy to pay attention to the product as well, which is, after all, the decisive factor. What is packaging? Nowadays, we are aware that it’s about more than just protection, and is in large measure advertising. After all it’s the pckaging that sells the product. It’s also becoming an ever more important logistical tool, as with intelligent labelling and RFID technology. These are our themes. The unfettered growth of the packaging industry is generating ever more interesting and frequently problematic issues. We are trying to to familiarize our readers with the secrets of design, techniques and technology, and ready product whose combination creates that extraordinarily homogeneous whole – the packaging. Packaging Polska is a packaging magazine with exceptional content and layout. It aims to provide not only accurate information, but above all to draw attention to the interrelations existing in the world of packaging taken as a whole. It is addressed to all those who work with packaging: starting from design, to production, ending with logistics.

Packaging – more than only magazine!

Especially the increasing markets in Eastern Europe currently have a proper packaging boom. Everyday appear new products, all packed in adequate packages. Equally glass, carton or plastics, the quantity of goods will result in increasing demand on packaging, transporting and logistic solutions. There are always used the newest and best technology, new materials and new ways of producing. So, it’s a change for all working in this branch. Here we see our responsibility and our mission. Packaging Polska as a medium is concerned to complete the communication between the ordering companies (consumer companies, advertising agencies, etc.) and the production industry. Technique, but even more the know-how of using new technologies is the priority significance for our editorial line. But after all, the human is always placed on the foreground. All targets we will reach by the quality of our work and by the quality of the information, which Packaging Polska offers, in comprehension with our customers and business partners.

RANGE OF CONTENTS

TRENDS We also try to gather information about what’s TRENDY, what may be heading for the scrapheap and what may be in vogue in the near future. To this end we work with agencies, we track global tendencies, keep a close eye on our own potential, and above all study the tastes and needs of consumers – the ones who buy.

TECHNOLOGY NEWS We want to inform and be informed. The NEWS section contains an exchange of brief thoughts, interesting events and longer term plans. It’s a kind of Speakers’ Corner put together on the basis of press releases sent to the editors as well as news from the industry gathered by word of mouth and thoroughly checked. From far away and close to home.

TRADE FAIRS We travel, meet, touch, test, gather information, make contacts and then write it all up. That’s the raison d’etre of the TRADE FAIRS section.

EVENTS If something’s happening, we’re there. And because there’s always something happening, we’re always there! We don’t waste the opportunity to tell our readers all about it in the EVENTS section.

Hope and doubt. Fear of risk or lack of knowledge. Break through concerns and examine the things that can change our thinking. The whole secret of packaging lies in understanding what is being packaged. In the TECHNOLOGY section we present everything that helps to break down those barriers.

PACKAGING MATERIALS In the PACKAGING MATERIALS Section we discover the secrets of paper, cardboard, glass, plastics, aluminium, metals… and any other substance which can be used to create the end product. Packaging. Then we look for the person. The one who opens it.

LABELS But before he opens the packaging, he has to take a look at the label! That’s why booklets, sleeves, in-moulds, from PVC, PP, PE, OPS whatever you like, they always find a place in the LABELS section. Of course there has to be RFID – with its fashionable waves.

DESIGN AND MARKETING Economic growth feeds on business successes. And businesses grow faster the better the economic conditions are. That’s how the world goes round. It’s set in motion by our tastes, likes and needs, and above all by our weakness for things that give us comfort and pleasure. It’s about this satisfaction, comfort and pleasure derived from the objects around us that we write in the DESIGN AND MARKETING section.

RANGE OF CONTENTS

ECOLOGY

PRINTING With pulp, with a shine, obviously with a sparkle! Machines, technology and possibilities. Installations, applications, printing houses. On paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, metal. Printing is also a journalistic passion of ours. We are especially interested in its effects, which we will endeavour to publish in the PRINTING department.

PACKAGING SYSTEMS Do we create functions or do they create us? It’s not enough just to open it… it has to close, too. Questions connected with packaging broadly understood are presented in the PACKAGING SYSTEMS section.

Will historians from another planet one day say: despite their abilities and genius they were destroyed by a lack of air, water and foresight? For by producing, selling, buying and consuming, modern man has created a perpetuum mobile. He has set in motion a machine that can’t be stopped, and which swallows up and spits out an endless amount of material. So as not to drown under them – he thought that the circle can be closed. He thought of recycling. And then he started to wonder how to acquire those used materials. Meaning he did have some foresight… But did he foresee everything? This is what we ponder in the ECOLOGY section.

TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS How to pack a product to make maximum use of space in the warehouse, the transport, on the shop shelf, in the refrigerator and so on… and still to get everywhere on time? Read about this in the TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS section.

COLUMN The thoughts of a totally subjective observer… About everything that’s more or less connected with packaging. At the end of reading. Or at the beginning, if you prefer.

BUSINESS AND FINANCE It has been said that if it’s unclear what something’s about, it’s about money… We usually know what’s what, and we share the information in the BUSINESS AND FINANCE section.

GALLERY It’s nothing new that the future of every country lies in the minds of the young and, above all, the creative. Thanks to the GALLERY created on our pages packaging designers can reveal their passions to the world. Their satisfaction is enormous when their passions become reality. And that’s happening more and more often. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for them! And for their designs…
