Welcome to the 21st Annual St. Louis Pagan Picnic! Join Us in Celebrating our Symbolic Coming of Age and Rejoice as We Reclaim Our Proud Heritage… Together!!! 21 is such a magical, mystical, significant number. In our modern culture, it is the final passage into mature adulthood and accountability, a time when childish endeavors are left behind and we are expected to strike out on our own and express our fullest selves. In numerological terms, 21 is the expression of the vibrational patterns of the number 3 (2+1=3). The most obvious traits of the 3 are in the creative expression and the subtle but definite feelings associated with completion, specifically the completion of a cycle. When 3’s emerge, there is a powerful need to express feelings, ideas, and visions of the imagination… imaginings of the future. A rebirthing is evident out of the essences of conclusion, from which only a new beginning can spring like a phoenix bird from the ash and flame. Reclamation is ours in the numerological moment, and we embrace it!
For 21 years, the St. Louis Pagan Picnic has both served and been an honored part of the local Pagan community, and it is our hope that we have served it well. We are also grateful to be a part of such a vibrant, embracive, inclusive, and expansive community, one that welcomes with open arms and is immersed in equality of expression, as well as a sense of completion. Celebrate with us this year, for our heritage is also yours! Please, stop by our Raffle Booth as you stroll Vendor Row, for it is a major part of the Picnic event. Enjoy our engaging line up of bands and diverse performers. And, be sure to thank one of our many volunteers who make this happening possible. All volunteers are easy to spot, as they are on site this year in our brand new STAFF t-shirts. Thank you! Much Love and Many Blessings!!!

Article Article Title: Arriving at the Zenith Written by Jennifer Adele www.jenniferadele.com It is a time of great solar power in the Northern Hemisphere. The days are growing incredibly long and the sun beats down with a merciless albeit life-giving blaze. The Summer Solstice will occur within the auspices of the June month, and we will know ourselves at the height of our current power during this phase. It is often during the month of June, when light burns away dark and lies can no longer hide in the shadows for any great amount of time, that we come face to face with exactly who we are in the moment‌ for better or worse.
Squadrons of fireflies sparkle against the backdrop of clear and hazy nights, nights thick with heat and floral perfumes. Prairie rose, coneflower, honeysuckle, and sweet

Article clover all grow wild and bloom with abandon. Red fox kits are coming into their own and will hunt with parents, learning the ways of life in the wild, the ways of the world. Snapping turtles lay eggs in deep sands, bullfrog breeding is at its fevered peak, and dog-day cicadas sing the spiral thrum inherent in all sentience. Helping us to sense the tone and timbre is the Celtic Tree Month of Hawthorn that began in the latter half of May and that now dominates the first two weeks of June. Two weeks out of four belong to Hawthorn before the start of the Month of Oak. The Hawthorn moon (lunar month) has a raw, phallic sort of energy about it, and that power is definitely and highly masculine. It is best used in making keen business decisions as well as strong professional and personal connections. Solar energy and cutting to the quick will be apparent in the first two weeks. However, the second half of the month takes on an entirely different vibe, as it falls under the auspices of the majestic Oak. The mighty Oak is strong, powerful, and typically towering over all of its neighbors. The Oak King rules over the summer months, and this tree was sacred to the Druids. The Celts called this month Duir, which some scholars believe to mean "door", the root word of "Druid". The Oak is connected with the energetics of protection and strength, fertility, money and success, and good fortune. It is also a symbol of greater wisdom and the connection of all things. And, it is during these last two weeks of June that all we have sown, all we have worked so hard for will come together. The efforts of the past annual cycle will come to a head and show here. If you don’t like what you see, what is reflected in your life at this point, the answer is very simple… work harder. The full moon that occurs during the month of June goes by many names, but all of them are indicative of the vibrational patterns of this time of year. The more common names include: Rose Moon, Lotus Moon, Green Corn Moon, Windy Moon, Moon When June Berries Ripen, Mead Moon, Honey Moon, Hot Moon, and Flower Moon… to name a few. All of them tell of the strength, solar energy, personal power, hard work, and great reflections inherent now! Do your very best!

Our knowledge of the gender of our deities is based on a filtering system set in place by modern society. We rarely discuss the dual, multiple or queer genders of the deities we worship or their placement on the continuum of gender. Nor do we discuss how that placement affects our relationship with them as well as our magickal practices. This workshop focuses
Page 13
Workshops on multiple cultural deities and their relationships to each other, to us, and across the continuum. It will help participants understand where they fall on the continuum and how that affects their relationship with deity.

Workshops meet an animal ally and uncover its messages to you. We will part the veil and travel together to the depths of the underworld to our inner temple, where we will each meet with an animal that has a message for us on our individual path. Part of this workshop is based on an essay by Shea on Ted Andrews in the forthcoming Ancestors of the Craft, a Temple of Witchcraft anthology.
Journeying with Death, A Shamanic Perspective on the Dying Process Workshop Presenter: Shea Morgan Death. A scary word. But should it be? Death conjures images for us of a final end. Yet those on this path – the Witches, the Shamans, the Mages – know differently. Death is freedom of the soul, freedom from the body that it used in this life to experience all that it can on its journey. The lessons of this life now behind it, death is the rebirth of the spirit into a whole new experience, simply, or not quite so simply, the next step on the soul’s journey. Yet what is it, to be that person? The one who sits in vigil with the dying? What is it like to be the one chosen by the dying to help them cross the bridge? What might you expect? Hear one person’s story of the shamanic journey to the other side of the veil. During class, we will light a candle in remembrance of our loved ones who have crossed to the other side, an ancestor of blood or by tradition, so please bring a memento or photo to place on the altar during class. Come celebrate the hidden joy in the ultimate final harvest – the final harvest of the soul.

Rituals and Celebrations:
In Tower Grove Park
What’s the Difference? Presenter: Lady Taz Storm Are you holding open or public rituals? Do you lead your local community’s moons? What about at rituals at festivals? Many Pagans use the word ‘ritual’ to describe any event that happens when people gather together in circle. Did you know that not all circles are rituals? Many are in fact celebrations. So then, what is a ritual? What is a celebration? This workshop discusses the differences between rituals and celebrations, why understanding the differences as a distinct concept is important, and how these differences affect planning and preparing for events. We will also discuss the similar elements of both rituals and celebrations. Utilizing this knowledge for both public and private events can enhance your participants’ spiritual connection during circles.

Seeking Healthy Community – Approached Through a 5 Layer Model Workshop Presenter: River Higginbotham Often in our Pagan communities — covens, circles, churches, councils, regional groups or even families — we are faced with disagreements, conflict and interpersonal strife more frequently than we would want or expect. I am intensely interested in building community so Page 17
Workshops that I will have a harmonious community in which to grow and share life. The approach we will discuss and learn can be applied in any relationship and within any group to take steps towards growing and supporting really fulfilling relationships and healthy communities. It starts with the self and progresses upward layer by layer to the capacity to really see the big picture and hold a large perspective. This model has helped me through the years and I am confident it can offer value to you and your groups.
Soul Mates Erica Kestryl Angell and Uthyr SpiritBear will share experiences that lead them to believe they are mated souls and some of the signs that such a relationship exists between others.
