KNOWLEDGE

Laminated neck:

A combination of multiple slices of wood glued with the aim of providing greater strength and stability. Rear veneer: The back of the headstock is also where some builders choose to apply a veneer, known of a Backstrap or a Rear plate. In this case, the back is left bare to highlight the lamination. The extra veneer on the back is considered to provide extra strength to the area.

Tuner button:

Provides grip to work the tuning machines. Usually a hard wearing material such as plastic, wood, bone or shell.

Tuner plate:

The metal slab which is attached to the headstock. This provides the post and gears an anchor point.
