Juhu Beach acts as a pre-eminent place to view spectacular sunsets of the sun descending into the vast Arabian Sea. As the day sets, the beach begins a new procession full of lively activities. Along with the thousands of people, comes the feeling of over-crowding and congestion. The aim of this project is to de-congest the beach of all these unwanted obstructions, but at the same time keeping it lively. The installation is an attempt to elevate the activities taking place at the beach, so that the natural beauty of the beach is retained, and the spirit of the beach is also not misplaced.

* city as a theatre * thoroughfare * confluences of activities *
The site for the intervention is a thoroughfare, abutted by threemain linking roads and a major access connecting the north to the south of the city. Being under the confluencesof a variety of programmes ranging from racecourse-residential colonies-religious centrerecreational spaces ,etc. the surrounding of the site portrays the heterogeneity (as a theatre) of the city with changing performances over time/activities.

TRIMESTER X
The site is placed in the core area of the city’s urban setting with comparatively larger open space around (sea/ race course), but it does not narrative the characteristics of openness. This is due to the location of the busy junction which is under the conflict of thousands of people and also the topography, where bend facing the sea that directly overlooks the sea jutting landmass.

transformation of the packaging material into a pod
Canopy BSSA Installation Amphitheater, Kala Ghoda The material [corrugated boxboard] provided initial cues in deciding the installations specifications. It is a direct choice of the context of the city[mumbai] - ‘value addition’ and ‘regenerative usage’. It is modular, structurally self-sufficient and works on geometric principles of the diagonal and the rhombus. A modularsystem aids in creating a base which can be modified in accordance with the site conditions - tree-covers, spans and spatial gestures. Generically implied, each pod is like an inhabitant within a larger entity and aims to fit in with its surroundings to create the entity in its entirety - distorted, free-determined, coherent and dependent. A modular system with defined constraints of the site[kala ghoda amphitheter] and the city tries to capture the various forces that define the site and the city. Metaphorically, each packaging box module represents a Mumbaikar; their distortion similar to an individuals state of mind; and each Mumbaikar connected by a string of circumstances. The canopy overall depicts the city of Mumbai, denser at the places it can thrive and sparser at others.

Barcelona-Diagonal Mar
Mount Montjuic
The barcelona study tour was a walk through the city exploring physical and cultural aspects. Barcelona being a planned city, can be studied at a macro level with its street grids and lively culture. At a more micro level, one can see different styles of architecture like that of Gaudi and Mies Van Der Rohe.

WATERFRONT Barcelona's waterfront was an old industrial land cut off from pedestrians by a highway. The growth in the city was once focused away from the waterfront, exemplified by the placement of its highway near the water, cutting it off from the rest of Barcelona and making it a polluted site. However, the city's plan for the 1992 Olympic Games changed it all. The highway was put underground, thus reconnecting the city with its water-front. And new beaches, parks, and neighborhoods filled the newly open land.
The La Rambla is a tourist pedestrian street, in central Barcelona that contains shops ,various stalls that appeal to the tourists ,markets and street performers .It begins from the center of the old part of town , Placa del Catalunya, to the port area and ends via a bridge at a entertainment centre. A 1.2 kilometer-long tree-lined pedestrian mall between Barri Gothic and El Raval, it connects placa Catalunya in the center with the Christopher Columbus monument at Port Vell. It was originally a small street flowing outside the city walls. It is the most cosmopolitan street of Barcelona with the greatest diversity of people including passerby ,shoppers,civil servants,street musicians and dancers
