Do you have an
old bike
just hanging around your garage? Donate bikes at ReidRide
Bring your used bike, bike parts and bike gear to ReidRide, Saturday, July 20 at the Reid Hospital parking lot in Richmond. We’ll be there from 7am to 1pm ready to accept your gift. These bikes will help Pedals for People serve the local community through our Pedals Bikership program. Bikerships help us put recycled bicycles into the hands of needy families - people who can use some help getting to work, kids that can use some safe, physical activity and anybody that wants to improve their fitness.
Bikes we’d love include:
Kid-size bikes, adult 3-speeds, 10-speeds, and cruisers such as Schwinn, Raleigh and others, comfort bikes, mountain bikes and road bikes. Any serviceable complete (or nearly complete) bicycle, adult or children’s, will do. Flat tires or a missing seat or pedal matter little. Fat-tired mountain bikes and one-speed “cruisers” are the most desired models. Bike accessory donations also accepted.
Can’t make this date? Bring Bikes:
• July 27th to the Great Greenway Tour • July 27th to the IU East Run with the Wolves • August 24 to CFW’s 5k/10k/Mini-Marathon OR to Cycling & Fitness Warehouse, 213 N 3rd Street, Richmond, July 22 - Aug. 23, during regular hours.
What’s Next?
With the help of United Way’s partner agencies, we’ll reach out and qualify applicants for Pedals Bikerships. Then, on Make-A-Difference Day, Oct. 26, the bikes will be redistributed at Kiwanis Safety Village, where recipients will also receive a course in bike safety and maintenance. More info on this to come later.
