Note from the Editor:
JYOTI for Kids – A Meditative Technique of Purification by the Light, was inspired by and subsequently adapted from the adult version of the book: JYOTI – A Meditative Approach to Purification through the Agency of Light. The small volume which you presently hold in your hands was streamlined to accommodate the perspective of a child’s view. The child is given highly imaginative techniques allowing him, or her, to experiment with a friendly companion, called the Light. In an easy-to-follow recitative style with a pictorial format, the book helps all kids to unearth a veritable wealth of kindly benefits, and to uncover the spontaneous joys which naturally accompany such an imaginative approach to creative contemplation. The whole project is underbraced with a softly narrated textual CD, so that the child feels that he, or she, is guided step-by-step all the way, as the interactive (dynamic) meditation moves right along.
To all the children of LIGHT upon this earth who carry within their hearts a magnificent sun glorifying millions upon millions of fiery joys. Words of Introduction: This book, the Jyoti, is a veritable gold mine of easy meditation for children. It invites and introduces the child to the sparkle and splendor of his inner world, a subjective realm where many marvels and wonders are housed, and not unusually, have yet to be explored in a conscious fashion by him. Progressively, the child, through repeated application of this simple, meditative etude, will not only improve his concentration, but discover the implicit joy which comes reflexively in visualizing his inner universe, growing ever more harmonious and luminous as a consequence. This original visual meditation beckons the child to entertain more positive thoughts about himself, others, and his environment as a whole. The meditative process, (guided), also aims to boost his self-confidence and self-esteem, engendering a calm feeling of well-being, and can serve as an effective antidote to the stress of modern living. It can also be of aid to that special child who is experiencing certain academic difficulties, tough relationships, or wearisome health problems. Indeed, the Jyoti, is a sane, generic mind-tool which can be used by both child and adult in the fullest of confidence. Simhananda

Words of Introduction for Children: This book offers you, the child, a marvellous path by which you can explore the wealth and wonder of your inner world. It invites you to discover the pure beauty which naturally exists, both within you and the world without, which is all around you. It asks you to participate in an extraordinary voyage, accompanied all the while by a gentle friend, called the LIGHT. This friend has been patiently waiting for you quite some time now… to make its warm acquaintance. When you are feeling tired, or have difficulty falling asleep, or are trying to stay awake just enough to smartly concentrate, or on some other day, when a deep sadness weighs down upon you and keeps your heart from smiling… these are the perfect times for you to make contact with your friend, the LIGHT… whose pure intent is to give you a helping hand during difficult moments and hard times. Once you establish, (and repeat), the contact with your friend the LIGHT, you will be well on your way to the discovery of the wonderful treasure drove, which herein, is called the JYOTI. Up to you child, to take up the challenge and explore. Lynda Blanchette Social Worker

f you agree, you and I shall embark together upon a fabulous voyage. Prepare yourself for a humdinger experience which will unfold primarily, within you. First, find a quiet spot and sit comfortably. Gently close your eyes; inhale long and slowly; exhale long and slowly. Do so again a second time: inhale long and slowly, exhale long and slowly; and yet again a third time: inhale slowly, slowly, take your time, exhale slowly, slowly, take your time. Let your body graciously relax and set aside all your worries. Get ready for a marvellous adventure.

et’s imagine a point situated in the area of the 3rd eye. This particular point is to be found midway between and slightly above the eyebrows. At this point, picture the flame of a candle. Really see how beautiful and bright it is! Concentrate upon this flame and on the LIGHT which is radiating from it. This beautiful LIGHT is alive, soft and warm; it wants to move and dance and fill you with joy. It teases you and invites you to travel along with it, and explore the inner spaces of your body.
