Now is the time to “embrace your inner Jew.”
Now Is The Time To 'Embrace Your Inner Jew' Where does “Jewish” fit into your identity? Is it an adjective you would use to describe yourself, as in: “I am Jewish"? Or is it a verb to describe something you do, like: “My family does Jewish"? How about Israel—where does Israel fit into your life? Do you feel a connection to the place, the people, the history or the culture? Have you ever been there? Or maybe you’re not Jewish but you chose the OFJCC as the place where you work out, play, learn and make friends. What is your experience of Jewish connection and community? These are just some of the questions we are asking at the OFJCC. Last year, our Board adopted an ambitious new vision: “To be the architects of the Jewish future.” We believe there are countless ways to connect with Jewish life and with Israel and we want to be the place where you can explore innovative ideas in our welcoming, inclusive community. In fact, we’re ready to put our money where our mouth is. This fall, we are excited to launch a new Jewish Innovation Micro-Grant Program. We’re inviting individuals with good ideas to share them and let us help make them happen. Our Micro-Grant team will evaluate applications and
authorize anywhere from $100 to $1,000 to seed quality ideas that architect the Jewish future through new expressions of Jewish identity or activity. If you are interested in being among our first crop of Jewish Innovation MicroGrantees, please reach out to Joel Stanley, our Director of Jewish Innovation, at jstanley@paloaltojcc.org. If you’re not ready to start your own program but are looking for exciting new experiences, you’ve come to the right place! Join us on September 18 for our second annual Zionism 3.0 conference, participate in our first Rosh Hashanah in the Park on October 3, take a class, attend a performance or sign up to learn Hebrew. Please browse through this catalog for loads of ideas to make your life richer, your connections deeper and your spirit higher. Finally, if you don’t find what you want in these pages, tell us and let’s collaborate on creating something new. Embrace your inner Jew and let’s architect the Jewish future together.

PIAZZA’S FINE FOODS
Naturally Growing Piazza's is an integral part of life on the Peninsula. John Piazza Senior was our face to the Peninsula community for many years. He loved to feed everyone! Under his direction we gave a lot of food to charitable organizations and we donated platters and gift certificates to special interest groups in the communities around our stores. We continue this tradition. Mr. Piazza Senior started our eScrip program which provides dollars for local schools on a daily basis. Since we have been in business, we have given millions of dollars to support our schools in this way. The three Piazza sons and their families volunteer in various venues on the Peninsula and upper management volunteers in the community as well. Employees are encouraged to be kind and respectful of all people and to lend a hand when it is appropriate. We are moving into the future embracing the high standards set by John Piazza Senior.

The OFJCC is proud to be a part of the Initiative on Jewish Peoplehood, co-funded by the Koret Foundation and the Taube Foundation for Jewish Life and Culture. Through this initiative, we present programs and celebrations that bring community together, travel and education programs that build connections to Israel and the heritage of the Diaspora communities, innovative classes and participatory experiences that elevate Jewish literacy and invigorate Jewish
practice. The OFJCC believes that the ongoing vitality of the Jewish people lies in the richness of its communal life, the vibrancy and diversity of its cultural and spiritual expression and the shared experiences that inspire a sense of connectedness to Jews everywhere and in every generation.
