Come Play With Us!
Recently, a dear friend quoted a Jewish newspaper headline that paraphrased the CEO of a Jewish organization who plagiarized a well-known Jewish scholar who once said: “If you want to give your children a Jewish background, you need to give them a Jewish playground.” I love that line, so I’m now appropriating it. That’s because creating engaging Jewish play spaces is exactly what we are doing at the OFJCC. We already have: • • • • •
Age-friendly playgrounds and a blooming Giving Garden at the OFJCC Leslie Family Preschool. The semi-permanent but always busy gaga pit on the Saal Family Midrahov. The Seiler Family Gymnasium for youth and family play in the Goldman Sports & Wellness Complex. The indoor Barbro and Bernard Osher Pool complete with waterslides and spouts and the six-lane outdoor Bill Heller Pool. A Friday bouncy house on our “grassy” area outside the new Family Center in the Jessica Lynn Saal Town Square.
And this year, we are embarking upon some ambitious campus enhancement projects. We have commissioned a beautiful play sculpture called “The Oasis” that will transform the OFJCC's Town Square and become a must-see attraction for families visiting Silicon Valley. We are also developing a new landscaping plan that will create more inviting green spaces where people can stop to meet, eat, work or play. Starting this fall, we are creating even more exciting and meaningful programming to make all of the OFJCC a “playground of experiences” for you and your children. We will be hosting: • • • •
Our Annual Rosh Hashanah Festival on September 8 Our Family Sukkot Celebration, including our first Sukkah-making contest for professional local architects on September 25 The Cartoon Jazz Family Concert with Jeff Sanford’s Cartoon Jazz Septet on October 25 Our Annual Hanukkah Festival of Lights on December 10
As you read through this catalog, you will find so much at the OFJCC that will enrich your lives, build community and inspire your Jewish journeys. We are, indeed, a Jewish playground for the whole family. Come and play with us!

PIAZZA’S FINE FOODS
Naturally Growing We are locally owned and operated and we are the fourth generation of a grocery family that began our tradition in Italy. In 1979, we joined our Father, John Piazza Sr., to create the markets that everyone shops at today. John Sr.’s honored idea was to provide our customers with many of the essentials that enable us to live a balanced and productive life. John Sr.’s vision was always to provide families with exceptional quality wedded to value, convenience and award winning customer service. We are in our stores every day because we are committed to our Father’s legacy. Come say “Hello” to John Piazza Jr., Gary Piazza, and Rick Piazza. We look forward to serving you!

The OFJCC is proud to be a part of the Initiative on Jewish Peoplehood, co-funded by the Koret Foundation and the Taube Foundation for Jewish Life and Culture. Through this initiative, we present programs and celebrations that bring community together, travel and education programs that build connections to Israel and the heritage of the Diaspora communities, innovative classes and participatory experiences that elevate Jewish literacy and invigorate Jewish
practice. The OFJCC believes that the ongoing vitality of the Jewish people lies in the richness of its communal life, the vibrancy and diversity of its cultural and spiritual expression and the shared experiences that inspire a sense of connectedness to Jews everywhere and in every generation.
