Zakheim: The Art of Prophetic Justice
By Joyce Steinfeld
View an interpretive photo display of the life and work of Bernard Zakheim (1896-1985) who was born and raised in a Hasidic family in Poland and immigrated to San Francisco in 1921. He is famous primarily for his murals, having overseen the entire Coit Tower mural program.
Joyce Steinfeld’s contemporary and imaginative sculptures use interpretations of languages in combination with abstract shapes to bring letters, words and shapes to life. On display through Friday, 1/27 Goldman Sports & Wellness Complex Lobby
The Israeli Project: Faces and Stories of the Middle East By Photographer Mark Tuschman An exhibit that reframes history and the place of modern Israel in the world. Last Jews of Yemen By Journalists Rachael Strecher & Josh Berer Compelled by the opportunity to document the last indigenous Jewish community of the Middle East before it vanishes, journalists Rachael Strecher and Josh Berer spent several months living in Sana, Yemen. The result is a unique collection of photos and journal entries documenting an ancient Jewish community on the brink of extinction as a result of civil war, cultural isolation and violent anti-semitism.
