The Importance of Cooling Textiles
Cooling textiles are becoming increasingly important due to the rising temperatures and extreme heat waves that we are experiencing worldwide. These advanced materials and fabrics are designed to help regulate body temperature and provide comfort in hot and humid conditions.
The global summer temperatures have continued to rise. According to data from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), 2019 was one of the hottest summers on record globally. Each year from 2018 to 2022 ranked among the top five hottest years, with 2019 ranking second.
High temperatures have a significant impact on human health. Summer heat reduces sweating, which can lead to heat stroke and heat exhaustion. The 2019 European heatwave resulted in many deaths and casualties. Similarly, high-temperature weather in Japan in 2018 also caused hundreds of deaths.
Not just outdoors, heat stroke may also occur when the indoor temperature is excessively high and the air conditioning or ventilation is insufficient, or in areas with high humidity levels that impede sweat evaporation and body cooling.
As summer approaches and temperatures rise, staying cool and comfortable can be a challenge. Cooling clothing can help beat the heat and make outdoor activities more enjoyable. These garments are made of moisture-wicking materials that can quickly evaporate sweat, helping to regulate body temperature. Some cooling clothing also uses special technologies like phase-change materials to provide extra cooling relief. PALTEX Xylitol+ cooling technology is achieved by using PARACOOL IDA, a special emulsion of coated particles that enclose water-soluble erythritol and xylitol.
