Ideas were drawn from admiring the intricate patterns of the tea bushes on a hill. These patterns resemble the annual rings of a large tree upon rotation. Each annual ring represents a ‘stage’ in a tree’s life. In a person’s life, each moment is framed by memories or events. For the Turks, tea-drinking is a significant event in their hayat which is turkish for the word life.. Drawing inspiration from the ‘caydahnk’ & combining the love of drinking tea, we designed our tea house by stacking rotating frames so that it allows the drinker to view life at different angles/stages, creating a tea-drinking atmosphere with a hint of nostalgia.
Architecture Design Studio 2 [ARC1126] Project 3 : Tea Plantation Retreat
H A Y A T
The Turkish tea culture An obsession, an addiction, a daily routine, a ritual, a welcome gesture, a conversation starter, a break from work, a breakfast com- panion, a way to while away the time and what not. These are many roles and faces of the Turkish tea. The tea is crimson in colour and is often served hot in a tulip-shaped glass with two tiny sugar cubes on a saucer accompanied by a little spoon to stir. And the pleasure of hugging that beautiful glass with your fingers and feeling the warmth of the tea on the palm does its magic as it comforts you and lets the conversation flow.
Concept : Life, Stacking The Turks as the geniuses of shortcuts have created a great shortcut in the tea brewing too: they developed a construction of 2 stacked kettles called 'caydanhk' - the bottom part is for the boiling water while the upper one is for the tea brew. Turkish tea is a pure and simple drink, which is never drunk alone and appears as an identity engrained in the Turkish soul like the national anthem.

Project 3 extends the understanding of design ideas and process. It explores the relationship between architectural tectonics, function and space in architecture.
The Hangout ------- “ Life isn’t lonely and boring anymore... ”
SIte Plan
Design Concept: Hangout’s concept came out from the common image where people gather around unknowingly themselves, from doing discussion, mingling around, making a riot to even a big feast! Fun time increases as they always say the More the Merrier, this could also be the same thing with tea drinking too.
Playing with light between branches. Clustering of tree branches similar to random gathering of crowd.

This project allows us to understand the wide main growth of Western architecture influences towards the world, which includes the local architecture. Issues involved in the interrelationship between theory and design were identified.
Architecture Culture & History 2 [ARC 1323]
Project 1 : Heritage Trail: Building Analysis (Individual Assignment)
Broad issues which inform the development of architecture between the Industrial Revolution and Post World War 2 are analyzed as influence and development of westernized modern buildings in local context are also understand.
Architecture Culture & History 2 [ARC 1323]
Project 2 : Building Typology Study (Group Work)
Various factors contribute to the development of form are acknowledge thoroughly with the many types of architectural language whicharchitects of various historical periods and places have used in.
Middlesex Guildhall
Various construction elements are exposed to and introduced.
Understandings of the principles of construction, sequence of construction activities, importance of basic detailing, construction joints and material application through real life projects are enhanced.
Building Construction 1 [ARC1523] Project 1: Documentation and Analysis
Opportunity to study the relationship between site and construction method is granted and been taken to full utilization.
Building Construction 1 [ARC1523]
This project is a continuation of the first project-an integrated project, which includes construction detailing solution for final project in design studio.
Project 2: Integrated Construction Solution
Knowledge and understanding of construction, application from prior project are demonstrated.
The exercise of producing construction drawing and detail manually are emphasized.

This project allows us to understand the exponential growth of the environment of the world nowadays which leads to one of the most common environmental issue - Ecological Footprint.
Comparism of the issue has been done between local context and foreign countries as a research.
Nonetheless, the statistics of factors contributing to ecological footprint around the world are high and strategies to lessen and hopefully overcoming this issues are brought forward to encourage environmental sustainability.
Environmental Sustainable Design [ARC 1412]
Project 1: Research Poster and power point slides - An effort to demonstrate, communicate and create environmental awareness artistically.
This project allows us to understand and explain SE Asia concept of environmental sustainability and at the same time enable us to learn their ways and integrate it with our studio designs.
Environmental Sustainable Design [ARC 1412]
Project 2 : Fieldtrip based Case Studies RESEARCH BOARDS (A3 printouts)
Besides that, local climatic and environmental concerns were able to be identified and suitable strategies were carried out through utilization of effective local sustainable design principles and building practices as shown in this particular building that we have analyzed.
The building maximises the concept and practices of energy-saving design allowing it obtain high marks in the Energy Efficiency section.
