kIng cole bArIs
A historic bar that has been an iconic feature of the luxury property on Fifth Avenue. The name of the bar is derived from the majestic mural that adorns the wall behind the bar, painted by Maxfield Parrish in 1906. Legend has it that the painting was originally commissioned by Colonel John Jacob Astor, who built the St. Regis for another one of his hotels; however, the painting was moved to this hotel in 1932. Furthermore, King Cole Bar has a classic beverage one cannot miss out on, The Red Snapper, their rendition of a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary is the signature cocktail of the St. Regis brand, with each hotel crafting its own local interpretation of the drink. The Bloody Mary has been a part of St. Regis history since 1934 when a bartender Fernand Petiot at The St. Regis New York created a personalised drink for a Russian Aristocrat asked him to a vodka based cocktail. The name “Bloody Mary” was deemed too vulgar and hence was rechristened the Red Snapper. marriott.com
