The hotel o ers rooms and suites with a variety of spectacular views. I stayed in the Imperial Floor Deluxe Room. With panoramic views of the river, this cosy 40 sqm room was a delight. The room was equipped with amenities like a private bar, a drip co ee and tea maker, an in-room safe, an air purifier, and a comfortable sleep works mattress to lay down on after a busy day. Other products included Mikimoto cosmetics, traditional Japanese tea sets, and light cotton kimonos.

I started my day with a healthy bu et breakfast at Café Couvert, dining on some sunny-side-up eggs paired with a multi-grain toast, muesli, and a platter of freshly cut fruits. In the evening, I visited the Imperial Floor lounge, where I relaxed with a glass of cabernet, which I had with snow crab mimosa, caviar and a decadent scallop and tru le millefeuille. I ended my meal with the traditional Scottish cranachan, a wonderful concoction of cream layered with raspberries and oats. The service was excellent, as was the quality of the ingredients used.

LEISURE The hotel gives the guest plenty of opportunities to relax and unwind. The hotel ’s annexe building is home to an extremely elegant fitness club. It is designed to immerse guests in the club's open, airy interior with large glass walls letting in natural light. The club is one of the largest in western Japan, and it o ers advanced equipment for its members. The hotel also o ers a golf practice area, a pool, a sauna, and a tennis court.

VERDICT Imperial Hotel, Osaka, certainly caters to every kind of traveller. With state-of-the-art event spaces, decor and connectivity to the city and its attractions, the hotel is ideal for leisure as well as business travellers.
