Information and Content News and Technical Writing DOST now accepts S&T scholarship applicants The Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) opens its the 2021 S&T Undergraduate Scholarship Program for incoming Grade 12 students who wish to pursue STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) – related courses. This scholarship program is open to all natural-born Filipinos in Grade 12 of SY 2020‐2021, a member of the STEM strand or those belonging to the top five percent (5%) of a non‐STEM strand. Qualified students may pursue a Bachelor of Science degree program in any of the priority fields of study at a state university or college or any private higher education institution that is recognized by the Commission on Higher Education as Center of Excellence (COE) or Center of Development (COD) or with at least FAAP Level III accreditation for private institutions. Deadline of application is on August 28, 2020. Interested applicants may visit the S&T EScholarship Application System at www.science-scholarships.ph for more details and information on the said scholarship program.

DOST calls for entries to invention, research contest The pandemic has shaped the context of Science and Technology (S&T) to a whole new level. As the changing world has paced different possibilities, the country’s S&T researchers came up with innovative technologies and discovered new ways to help flatten the curve through a invention and research competition.

The Department of Science and Technology – Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) recently launched the Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits 2021 or dubbed as RICE in Western Visayas. Pursuant to Section 4 of the Republic Act (RA) 7459 or also known as the “Inventors and Invention Incentives Act of the Philippines”, RICE encourages men and women inventors and researchers to showcase their inventive and creative capabilities through a form of competition for cash incentives, awards, and bragging rights.
The competition is composed of five categories namely, the Outstanding Invention through the Tuklas Award, Outstanding Utility Model through the Unlad Award, Outstanding Industrial Design through the Banghay Award, Outstanding Creative Research through the Likha Award, and Outstanding Student Creative Research for High School and College students through the Sibol Award. Interested participants are required to submit until October 1, 2021 only.
