This font was made popular as it made good headlines: office handouts, mailers, signboards, etc. It was easy to read, rather striking and great for getting attention due to its thick width and tall x-height. It was also good due to its legibility when laid over pictures. It was still legible even without putting a border around the letters.

At the current time, Impact has continued to influence design in a surprising way. With the internet age, impact has gained popularity as people have used its proper ties of overlaying on images to create the visual identity of the internet meme. It is characterized usually by white text and thin black border, although even without the border was still equally legible. By transcending from metal typesetting to the digital age, Impact has become a font that we cannot do without.

No . 11

Designed by Geoffrey Lee in 1965 and released by the Ste phenson Blake Foundr y. This font was designed towards the end of the era of metal typesetting. As such, the design goal of this font at the time was to “get as much ink on paper as

BITMAP

Pixelicious is a computer font copyright of T.Foster in 2006.

The world cannot do without pixel fonts as it is still the best font that is easy to read when a small scale is required. This is compared to the modern font formats, when scaled down, tend to look distor ted. A relatable application for pixel fonts would have been from old games, which were good as they had a cleaner sharper look especially for flash websites. Moreover, the pixel fonts hold an aspect of retro
