Example Of Search Strategy

Search strategy Three data bases were used to collect the data, namely, One Search, CINAHL and ProQuest. These data bases were searched for the terms such as 'cardiac rehabilitation', 'quality of life,' 'benefits', and 'CHD'. Inclusion criteria were qualitative articles, written in English and published between the years of 2010 and 2017. Quantitative articles and articles written in non–English languages are excluded from this study. Moreover, this study focused only on adults, therefore the paediatric studies are also excluded from this study. After applying the inclusion and exclusion strategy, 12 articles reported qualitative study regarding the topic and they are used in this essay. 1.1a ExercisePhysical inactivity is one of the modifiable risk factor for the coronary heart diseases (Devries et al, 2011), and therefore exercise is used as an integral component of the primary and secondary prevention in reducing mortality and improving the quality of life. Upon reviewing the literature, the author found that, patients' perspective about physical exercise differs widely. In their study Holder et al (2015) found that, the increased awareness of the mortality after the cardiac event, help the patients to change their outlook towards life and this further help them to realise the health benefit of exercise. In addition to that, some of the patients claimed that, exercise helped to divert their mind and thus helps them to cope with the condition (Holder et al, 2015). Moreover, the current cardiac rehabilitation programme, made the patients aware of the health benefits of exercise and, therefore they were motivated to continue the exercise (Hillsdon et al, 2013; Morken et al, 2013). Exercising in a safe environment, under the supervision of the trained staff increases the confidence of patients in participating exercise (Morken et al, 2013). The study also found that, the patient increases their self–confidence level in performing exercise, after seeing the health improvements in the former cardiac patients (Morken et al, 2013). Furthermore, Back et al (2017) carried a further study to evaluate

I have always loved looking and participating in art classes, although I am not the best artist, and I enjoy learning about the history behind different art techniques. But I think that international relations would be something that is absolutely amazing to learn about because through this I could learn about the connections and effects that occur between so many different nations, and learn about how they interact with one another. I feel like I could provide an interesting perspective to this program, for the main reason of having been apart of programs similar to this one during previous summers. I work well with others, and I always try to keep an open mind as to avoid biases and to be more empathetic and understanding towards others. I am very adaptive to my surroundings even if that means changing topics within a classroom discussion. Something else about me is that I am what is known as an ambivert. This means that I sit in the scale between being and introvert and an extrovert. Pizza Restaurant – Pizza As a Well–Loved Comfort Food?

Libraries are an essential part of the community. However not all societies have libraries. Libraries require centralized populations, economic development and political stability for their survival. Libraries exist in places where peace exists. They cannot exist in places with full of conflicts. Libraries have different missions and serve different communities differently. People and organizations establish libraries with different missions. Historical overview shows that libraries have always had missions. The earliest mission of libraries was to maintain an archive for records. There is not information that shows when the first library was established. In the past, temples, municipals and governments had libraries. These libraries...show more content...

Therefore, Julius Caesar started building a public library, but died before he completed it. Asinius Pollio completed the library. This established was followed by more public libraries. Other missions of libraries that existed in the past included maintaining scholarly mission, religious mission, for instance, monastic libraries of middles ages, educational mission, for instance university, humanistic mission and promoting national pride (Rubin 39).

In the modern world, libraries have certain missions that they serve. The establishment of the printing press made more books available to many people. This encouraged the establishment of more libraries. In the United States of America, libraries came up with new missions. First, libraries emerged with the mission of self–improvement. Advances in mechanical technology in the eighteenth century led to industrial revolution that improved the economy and community health. This meant that a certain class of citizens had more leisure time, for self–improvement. This favored the emergence o f new libraries. The social library emerged with an aim of helping individuals improve through the search of truth. Therefore, they provided literature and books that provided information, which could help people to gain knowledge and improve their character. In the current world, libraries provide information that people have access to, and use it for their own improvement (Rubin 47).

Most Americans in the United States may not truthfully admit that there is discrimination in America when it comes to immigration. The type of immigration that I am referring to is that of illegal immigration into the United States from the southern borders. The people coming here illegally or those that have overstayed passed their stipulated time issued by their visas are the ones who are facing this problem head on. They are coming originally from different countries, such as Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and other Latin American countries. In theUnited States the estimated number of illegal immigrants has grown from 6 million in the 1990's, as stated in the US census (Woodrow, 1998), to over 13 million in 2009. The different companies or contractors that decide to hire immigrants hire them because they know that they will work in substandard or hazardous conditions for a lower wage. It is well understood by the employer that he or she can do this because the employee is grateful to be able to work and not get sent back to their home countries where the situation would be worse (Jones, 2008). Illegal immigrants, although grateful to work, have to deal with this exploitation and further discrimination. The United States has come to think of illegal immigrants as an inferior race and worth nothing. They have seen that they are able to use them for their own gain and take advantage of them. Americans have not considered these illegal immigrants as human first and it can truly be seen as a violation of human rights. Illegal immigrants are and have suffered enough in these many years and are being treated like a new type of slave being paid very low wages for very dangerous, unattractive jobs without any benefits.

In addition, the United States is not only hurting illegal immigrants, but is hurting itself. Back in 2008 a meatpacking plant in Iowa was raided and hundreds of illegal aliens were sent to prison. They were treated as if they were a criminal gang instead of workers. The views of restrictionists, accepted by Republicans and some Democrats is to continue exploiting illegal

Reflection On My English 101 Experience

Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

Examples Of Semiotic Analysis

1. Introduction and Background In this essay I will evaluate the various components used to construct meaning in Figure 1 by means of a semiotic analysis. I will discuss the theory of certain semiotic concepts and apply them to Figure 1 throughout the text. The image in Figure 1 delivers a visual message and it is supported by illustrated text, three captions, and two logos. The knowledge necessary to interpret the illustration is knowledge of writing and English (Barthes 1977: 153). This analysis is applicable to an adult audience familiar with 'food'– and 'diet' ideologies, as well as concepts of celebrity endorsement. 1.1 Context and Representation of Figure 1 The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) were founded in 1980 and...show more content...

The consumption of meat becomes a moral issue. If consuming meat is considered to be immoral, then a vegetarian diet is the morally acceptable option. This logo challenges the morals of the viewer and is used to illicit a guilty response (Bailey 2007: 44, 50). Connotatively6 this sign can imply that, unlike animals, the reader does not have a 'heart' until he/she embraces a vegetarian diet. This connotation contradicts the primary phrase in Figure 1; "All animals have the same parts". Another connotation deliberately used by PETA, is the image of the blue silhouetted cow; its shape is popularly associated with dairy and beef products within the consumer market. My Core Values

As I have grown as an adult and moved further towards success in my life, I have always maintained a guided structure to achieve goals and tasks that challenge me. I call these my "Core Values". This is a strict regimen or a belief system that I have instilled into my everyday practice to complete any task that presents itself. Although not perfected, I have found this method to be quite successful. My work ethic, responsibility, and my drive to further my education and knowledge have never failed me. Life can seem tough and demanding on a very consistent basis, but I believe that I have cultivated a plan to accommodate and withstand any trial

To build responsibility as a child I volunteered to take care of my family dog. Even though she was the family's pet I took it upon myself to make sure she was properly fed, watered, and walked. My mother was very proud of my new development as an adolescent. She became very encouraging and would come up with other special chores around the house that I could be relied upon to handle. To some children this would seem like a punishment, but both of my parents were so supportive and persuasive that I looked forward to having the gained accountability. My father instituted honesty and respect as monuments for responsibility. I of course struggled at times with taking care of my dog, and handling some of my other chores. But my father always wanted me to not only be honest with my parents, but also with myself. He stated that a lie would not benefit anybody and it was disrespectful to tell a lie. He would tell me that a liar was the same as a cheater, and nobody liked either. If I knew how to respect others and be honest, than my responsibility would only increase. I asked why I would want added responsibility and my father told me two things that changed my perspective completely. First, it was that responsible people always tended to be more successful. Since I had always dreamed of growing up to be rich and famous, I guess I could accept the added responsibility. The second thing he told me was that one day I could possibly

Journeys are moments in life that define and reconstruct the myths we create about ourselves and others. All too often the ideals of a biased community or select group are viewed as the model by which all individuals must follow. To escape the pressures of a collective standard a person must travel outside the constraints of a community and discover his or her own true identity. On such a journey one can expect moments of planned reflection or unexpected instances of revelation. A journey is everyminute of my existence, as I travel through life and try to ascertain my own presence in its cycle.

An essential journey occurred three years ago when I set out on a personal pilgrimage. I wanted to re–travel the time line of the past few...show more content...

I had only been camping once or twice and even then it was with all the comforts of modern camping gear. Was I ready for this?

As my guide paddled away I looked down at my feet and surveyed the few preparations which I had brought. I had a sleeping bag; a tarp; a yard of string; two bags of food, which were little more than fruits, nuts, and cheese; two canteens of warm water; and the clothes on my back, which I had layered several deep. Before I would even attempt to sort through the real reasons why I had come on this trip I decided to set camp.

As I looked about me, I saw that there was not one smooth area within a hundred yards. Because I had to be within whistling distance of my guide, in case of an emergency, I could not wander off. The first place I looked was the rocky stretch of beach. As I walked along looking for a small cave or shelter I noticed dozens of minuscule creatures. These were not companions or friendly wild animals but small biting sand fleas.

Now I knew that no matter how much I wanted to assimilate myself with nature there was a limit to my experience. I just couldn't envision myself happily brushing off sand fleas all night so I decided to look up in the patch of evergreens that sheltered the beach. After trudging through soggy moss and swampish soil I found two evergreens that stood alone on a small cliff. I strung up my tarp to try and create the most comfortable

The Miracle of Life

The miracle of life is something most of us will experience in our lifetime. The process before actually giving birth, I think is the hardest part of the entire scenario of child bearing. This amazing experience is something that can make the individuals who are involved in the process change in so many ways. The process of giving birth, for those of you who have not experienced or will never experience it, can be very hard, long and rewarding all at the same time. To give a better description, think of eating a fireball. At first the fireball is tame andcalm, but just when you least expect it the fireball becomes hot. The pain that I felt is compatible to the game of mercy. The game of mercy is when you intertwine fingers with someone and twist their hand into a direction not meant for a hand. The pain was so quick and sharp that I wasn't fully expecting it to hurt as much as it did. I gripped my desk as if it could make the pain go away. I wanted it to appear as if I could take the intense pain with ease, but the expression on my face according to my co–worker told a different story. I wish I could have actually seen the expression, because my co–worker said it was an expression of panic. One minute I was eating and chatting, then out of nowhere the pain took control and dictated how the rest of the night would be.

After the first wave of pain subsided, I gave out a great sigh of relief. I was proud of the fact that I just made it through my first official contraction. Instead of leaving work, I decided to finish and go home in an hour. I was ready to hang out with the kids until I stopped and realized that if I just had a contraction, then that means there is going to be more which turns into labor. For the entire time I had been pregnant not once did I let the actual thought of giving birth enter my mind. I think I blocked out that part from my mind, because I was flat out scared of the pain. I have never been to the hospital for anything in my entire 26 years of life

The foundation of the German banking system is well developed. Germany was the first bureau in Europe, and joined the World Bank in 1952. Banks in Germany are what holds the country's investment capital and are controlled by universal banks, which are able to offer a variety of banking, and savings. In addition, the universal banks make up three–fourths of total business, and play as shareholders in the country's industrial firm. Abortion, when the topic comes up, it is usually something people do not like to discuss. People may tend to avoid this issue for fear of offending or angering others but it is extremely important that the horrors of this brutal practice be addressed. During the years 1965–1996 over 515 million babies have been murdered, this is if you add the number of chemical and surgical abortions (www.rockforlife.org). This is what we need to understand: abortion kills and we need to know where it came from.

The legalization of abortion started in Mississippi in the year 1966; it was used in the cases of rape. Then other states began to expand the use of abortion. For instance, if it was the case of rape,...show more content...

One way is called Partial Birth Abortion (D&X); it can kill babies up to thirty–two weeks old. The abortionist (murderer in this case) removes all of the baby from the mother except for the head, he then jab a pair of scissors in the back of the babies skull and then he uses a suction hose to suck out the babies brain. Then he uses forceps to crush the babies' skull and pull the rest of the babies' body out. Salt poisoning is also used, where salt is injected and the bay dies of convulsions due to salt poisoning (www.rockforlife.org). If they can say this is not murder, then what is?

Abortion is not painless for the mother either. Over ninety–seven percent of women have reported feeling pain it is often described as intense, severe, or very severe. Abortion is also not without side effects. Complications such as bleeding, hemorrhaging, menstrual disturbances or inflammation of the reproductive organs. Sometimes abortion can cause damage to the uterus and make the woman infertile for the rest of her life. (Abortion some medical facts pamphlet.) Examples Of Bravery In The Odyssey

Bravery

Being brave requires massive strength of mind, body, and spirit. It is being prepared to face adversity. It allows people to face their greatest enemies without fear. Out of all of the characteristics that Odysseus portrays, bravery stands out above all. There are many cases in which this shows up in The Odyssey by Homer. Specific examples that representOdysseus's bravery are the battle of Cicones, the events at the cyclops cave, and the events with the lotus eaters. Odysseus shows surprising bravery in the events of the Cicones island when facing the native people in battle. At the battle, Odysseus had to show bravery when his shipmates took too long to load the ship, and the fugitives escaped and brought an army back to the coastal
