IT’S CHRISTMAS!

December 2013

Well - very nearly. It’s a fantastic time of year - but the festive season can be difficult for pets. Their usual home environment changes, becoming cluttered with strange trees, flowers, bright decorations, interesting packages, noises such as crackers and fireworks, there are lots of interesting food smells and there may be unfamiliar visitors in the house.

PARAGON VETERINARY GROUP Carlisle House, Townhead Road, Dalston, Carlisle CA5 7JF Tel: 01228 710208 vets@paragonvet.com

Because we’re busy trying to do a hundred things at once over the Christmas period, pets may not be as closely observed as usual and can gain access to dustbins, decorations, plants and so on.

TOWNHEAD VETERINARY CENTRE Newbiggin, Stainton, Penrith, CA11 0HT Tel: 01768 483789 townhead@paragonvet.com

Quite a few of the food items commonly found in our homes at Christmas are toxic to pets - including: CHOCOLATE, ONIONS, GARLIC, LEEKS, PEANUTS, MACADAMIA NUTS GRAPES, RAISINS, CURRANTS and SULTANAS

Please keep your animals safe this Christmas and if you’re at all suspicious they have eaten something they shouldn’t have, contact us immediately.
