Fireworks and Bonfire Night By Sam Holliday th

The 5 of November is a very social event for many people, but unfortunately for our pets this can be a very frightening time. Nowadays it is not only the day that fireworks are heard but also weeks before and after. For animal owners this time can be as stressful for you as for them. An Adaptil diffuser is a product many people are using now. It is very easy to use as it is just a plug in which releases pheromones into the environment for up to four weeks. ‘Appeasing’ pheromones are released by lactating bitches to reassure the offspring, the Adaptil diffuser mimics the properties of the natural appeasing pheromone. There is no sedative effect at all. Clinical trials show 80% improvement with signs observed by owners. It is normally recommended that the diffuser is in the room most used by the dog for a fortnight before and one week after the event. There is a similar product for cats called Feliway diffuser, it is recommended to have this in one week before the event, this works in the same way as the Adaptil diffuser. Keeping cats indoors is best, but they are very independent and if they are used to being outside this may be difficult. It may be worth while keeping them in a few days before as unexpected fireworks will still be going off. On the day itself keep your cat in and provide a litter tray. If they hide leave them alone until they feel it safe enough to emerge.

Manicure and pedicure? Trim, wash and blow dry? Whatever you are after Jude at London Road is great at getting your pooch looking like a star (or just giving them a pampering)! We have a purpose built grooming room fitted out with kennels, bath and shower units, dryers and hydraulic tables and Jude works 3-4 days a week at the surgery doing groomings. She's well accustomed to all sorts of dogs - Jude has five Rottweilers, a Pug and a Lancashire Heeler and in her spare time she shows her dogs with considerable success, including at Crufts!

Compassion, care, clinical excellence

All shapes and sizes are welcome and Jude has plenty of time and patience with pets that have had difficult experiences at other grooming salons. The grooming is open to clients and non-clients alike. All clips include a bath and dry, nails trimmed and ears plucked (if a terrier breed). We run a loyalty scheme and a recommend a friend discount for the grooming service.
