Living life one ‘purl’ at a time
1st Annual ART in the PARC Residents as well as a number of guests attended a fantastic event on July 8th at Mulberry PARC. It was a full afternoon of art, music, and delicious food and wine, showcasing their very own works of art! We thank our guest and resident artists for sharing their passion of the art or craft they cherish, which helped to create this rich and colourful event at Mulberry PARC. It was truly a feast for the senses, and a pleasure for all. We look forward to viewing all the pieces that will be created for next year’s 2 nd annual event!

As a mother of five, Marie has had a lifetime of experience coordinating people and being the “go-to” person. It’s no wonder her love of sewing and knitting resulted in her spearheading a knitting group at Mulberry PARC. “It’s a wonderful social time, and this is a great group of ladies,” exclaims Marie about Knitting-For-A-Cause. “If someone drops a stitch, one of us is always there to pick it up,” says Marie who started the group five years ago, after residents observed her knitting in the bistro. “They would say to me they hadn’t knit in years and didn’t think they could anymore. I decided to change that.” Now, up to 30 ladies come together once a week to enjoy the camaraderie as much as the craft. They have ventured into more challenging items like afghans and baby wear. Marie has watched some of the quieter residents blossom as a result. “It brings them out of their suites and out of their shells. Their disposition improves.”
