KER LOWER PAR SC HO
HEAD OF SCHOOL CIRCLE $5,000 to $9,999 Recognizing our 12 Heads of School who have relied on decades of loyal Board members, Parents Association leaders and donors to keep the doors of our School open to qualified and deserving students in the San Diego community for over a century.
LEGACY CLUB Lifetime gifts to secure Parker's future Recognizing our dedicated faculty and staff with the statue of St. Francis Assisi which still stands in the courtyard of the Mission Hills Campus. It was sculpted in 1940 by the late Isabelle Schultz Churchman, a Parker teacher, and dedicated in honor of Parker's Principal and Director, Ethel Dummer Mintzer.
WINDOW SOCIETY $2,500 to $4,999 Recognizing the distinctive window design, a defining feature of our Lower School's Szekely Auditorium, which became our logo and inspiration for our tagline, "as far as the mind can see."
2012 SOCIETY $100,000 and above Celebrating our School founded to "emphasize the development of initiative and cultivate the power of individual thinking..." Today our mission is "to create and inspire a diverse community of independent thinkers whose academic excellence, global perspective, and strength of character prepare them to make a meaningful difference in the world."
LANCER SOCIETY $1,000 to $2,499 Recognizing the fearless Lancer, which was introduced in the late 1960s when the Upper School classes were reestablished. This mascot was intended to boost School spirit, similar to beloved traditions such as Lower School pet day, kite day, homecoming, Hiya Hiya and Ikidarod.
LEADERSHIP CIRCLE $50,000 to $99,999 Recognizing our historic Lower School site designed by our co-founder William Templeton Johnson, who was also the architect of many iconic places in San Diego. The current Mission Hills Campus was officially dedicated in November 1913 when the first units were erected.
BROWN & GOLD SOCIETY $500 to $999 Recognizing our School's colors, highlighted in the chorus of one of our songs written by Carroll D. Scott: "Then here's a heart and here's a hand; We pledge them, true and bold, for Francis Parker School we stand, long live the brown and gold!"
FOUNDERS CIRCLE $25,000 to $49,999 Recognizing the visionaries who helped design, create, and support the Linda Vista Campus spaces erected in the early 2000s that enhanced our facilities and the Parker experience. These spaces continue to inspire and evoke innovation with our students and faculty. 2

GENERATIONS CIRCLE Lifetime gifts of $250,000 to $999,999 Identifying our first Board of Directors committee (now the Board of Trustees) who preserved the School for future generations when they saved it from imminent closure in 1932 by incorporating it as a nonprofit organization. Today, our School is a financially healthy nonprofit.
CENTENNIAL CIRCLE $10,000 to $24,999 Celebrating 100 years of academic rigor and excellence with more than 1,800 parents, alumni, grandparents, parents of alumni and friends on the Linda Vista Campus in June 2013.

1912 SOCIETY Lifetime gifts of $1 million and above Recognizing our founders, Clara Sturges Johnson and William Templeton Johnson, who opened Francis Parker School in December 1912 with three students in a little bungalow where the Mission Hills Nursery now stands.

TEAL SOCIETY up to $499 Recognizing the newest addition to our color palette, teal, which expands our colors beyond the two original natural hues taken from the brown terraces and canyons with the yellow violets, our School flower. By incorporating a blue tone, we truly look toward the limitless sky…as far as the mind can see.
message from advancement
leadership
Dear friends,
Thank you to the leaders who dedicate their time, treasure, and talent.
2014-2015 BOARD OF TRUSTEES
In the world of nonprofits, the word “gift” is generally a euphemism for the donations on which we depend. Here at Parker, our extraordinary community not only generously makes these gifts, but also goes above and beyond by including words of thanks. Leading our Advancement Office brings many joys, but nothing is more gratifying than reading your words of appreciation for our School, people and programs: “Thank you for making our kids LOVE school and providing a safe and wonderful place for them to grow and flourish.” “Thank you for helping to guide us through the challenges of parenthood. Your encouraging words and advice are greatly appreciated.” “Thank you for the tremendous diligence, innovation, patience, and love you put into teaching your students. You are truly amazing and we feel like we won the lottery with you as our son’s educational partner.” “I love seeing my granddaughter in the playground with friends, reading and engaged in art, and taking part in concerts. She and Francis Parker School are a good team!” “My grandson is extremely privileged to study with such outstanding faculty.”
LIPPITT AWARD
Thank you to the individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary spirit and exemplary service to Parker. In 1990, the Board of Trustees created the Henry F. LippittII ’29 Award to recognize his work as a trustee and trustee emeritus by honoringindividuals who give similar outstanding service to the School. In fact, the Lippitt Award is Parker’s highest honor to an adult. The recipient is an individual whose special contributions have made and will continue to make a major, positive difference—on and beyond our campus—in both the quality of education and the health of society.
“You have helped me develop as both a student and performer, and fueled my motivation and given me the fundamentals needed to pursue my dreams.” “Thank you for fostering my love of science.” “You have broadened my knowledge and appreciation of literature and inspired me to pursue a career in journalism, which will carry me well beyond my years at Parker.” “Parker has had a significant impact on our family...we are happy to help make a difference for others.” Being greeted by words like these reminds me on a daily basis that we are so much more than a School—we are a grateful, supportive community that is changing lives. On the following pages, words of gratitude are captured in the names. Please know, on behalf of the Advancement Office, that the thanks are entirely ours! Warmly,
Shara E. Freeman Head of Advancement

Francis Parker School 2014–2015 Report on Philanthropy

FINANCIAL OVERVIEW The Parker community has always been distinguished by the generosity and dedication of its parents, alumni, grandparents, faculty and staff, and friends. Parker recognizes and thanks the extraordinary commitment of more than 1,320 donors whose gifts during the 2014–2015 fiscal year enhanced the School’s ability to provide an extraordinary student experience and advance its mission. The School’s financial discipline and award-winning governance help to ensure an exceptional education. While tuition is the largest contributor to revenue, it covers only 91 percent of the actual cost of a Parker education. It is the generosity of our special community, captured in the 2014–2015 Report on Philanthropy, that ensures the Parker experience for all our students. Your philanthropy keeps the Parker education accessible to a broad range of families, and everyone is asked to contribute to make this possible.
