ONE SCHOOL
TWO CAMPUSES Parker has two campuses, one located in Mission Hills and one in Linda Vista. THREE DIVISIONS Parker has three School divisions: Lower (JK to Grade 5), Middle (Grades 6 to 8) and Upper (Grades 9 to 12). Each School has its own Head. Kevin Yaley, the Head of School, oversees all three divisions. MISSION HILLS CAMPUS (MH) The Lower School was established in 1912 by Clara Sturges Johnson and her husband, famed architect William Templeton Johnson. They brought Col. Francis W. Parker’s educational ideals from Chicago to San Diego. LINDA VISTA CAMPUSES (LV) The Linda Vista Campus is home to Parker's Middle and Upper School divisions. The School has been a proud member of the Linda Vista community since 1971 when Parker purchased the San Miguel School for Boys that had occupied the property.

Glossary of Terms Annual Giving: Annual gifts advance Parker’s mission, support our culture of diversity and inclusion, ensure the best academic experience for each student, and help the School bridge the gap between tuition and cost of a Parker education. Tuition falls short of the true cost of a Parker education. Every student at Parker is subsidized, even students who do not receive financial assistance. The gap between tuition revenues and full annual cost is approximately $2,900 per student. Our goal is 100 percent parent giving participation.
Gala: The PA’s annual fundraising event, which raises support for student financial assistance and Parker teachers (see “Day of Giving”). The evening includes auctions, dinner, and entertainment.
Back to School Night: All parents are invited to their child’s classes to meet the faculty and experience a shortened version of a day-in-the-life of their student.
Head of School New Parent Dinner: A special evening event for new parents from all three divisions in the fall.
Day of Giving: The Tuesday following Thanksgiving has come to be recognized as a global celebration of generosity. Parker participates in this special day, with the PA's leadership (as part of the Gala) to raise support for teachers. Financial Assistance: Parker provides aid to qualified families who submit financial information through School & Student Services (SSS). SSS is a nationally recognized program used by independent schools nationwide to assess a family’s demonstrated financial need. The School awards financial assistance to 20 percent of the student body for a total of $5.5 million annually in 2019-2020. Even though many families at Parker make financial sacrifices to pay tuition, whether they receive financial assistance or not, it is crucial for every member of our community to participate in our annual giving campaign.
Grandparent Council (GPC): Open to all grandparents of Parker students, the GPC hosts fun activities including Grandparent & Special Friends Days at the Lower School in the fall and at the Middle and Upper Schools in the spring. Visit francisparker.org/grandparents for more information.
Homecoming: A fun-filled event for the entire Parker community featuring a home football game on the Linda Vista Campus. Inter-campus Shuttle Service: A student shuttle between Parker's two campuses in the morning and in the afternoon at no additional cost. Parker Login: The online hub for the most up-to-date School information. Students and faculty may refer to it as "OnCampus" or "My School App." Rebate Programs: An easy way to indirectly support Parker. There is no cost to you or the School. Simply register and shop with AmazonSmile or Ralphs. (continued next page)

Parker Branding THE PARKER WINDOW Parker's window, a distinctive barbed quatrefoil design, is a defining feature of the Szekely Auditorium on the Mission Hills Campus and appears at the Linda Vista Campus on the Student Life Center building. It was the inspiration for the School's logo and tagline, "as far as the mind can see." SCHOOL COLORS Parker's school colors are brown, gold and teal. The two original colors, brown and gold, were taken from the brown terraces found in Mission Hills in the early 1900s and the surrounding canyons with yellow violets, our school flower. The teal color was added as a tertiary color in 2012 during the School's centennial year. TAGLINE Adopted in 2012, Parker's centennial year, the School's tagline reads: "as far as the mind can see." THE LANCER Parker's fearless Lancer, introduced in the late 1960s when the Upper School was reestablished, was re-imagined in 2017 to capture the spirit of Parker. SPIRIT WEAR Show your Parker Pride with spirit wear for the whole family. Parkerthemed clothing and accessories can be purchased online at parkerspirit.com For questions about the School's logos or for permission to use them for School purposes, please contact the Communications Department by email to communications@francisparker.org.
