THE ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY OF LIFE OUR GUIDING VISION 1. An Overarching Priority We are committed to placing the environment as a key priority which will have an overarching role in all policy sectors. The term ‘environment’ includes the whole of the natural environment and its biodiversity, as well as the man-made environment within which we live, work and play.

2. Sustainability Sustainability is about the capacity to endure, and the ability to sustain equally current and future societies. We are committed to ensure a progress model that is founded on the pillars of sustainability, which are essential in achieving a better quality of life for all of society.

3. Good Governance Good governance goes beyond political correctness, political ethics and administrative conduct, and includes also the need for commitment to our promises, without fear of political repercussions, because the sustainability of our environment transcends political popularity.

4. Liveability & Community Wellbeing The environment provides the basis for all life. A healthy environment supports quality of life for all, starting from the weakest members of society. We will therefore place the well-being of the person at the centre of our environmental policy, and will aim to enhance the liveability of our towns and villages.

5. Environmental Culture for the Future We are committed to safeguarding the commons: the air, water, land, open spaces, culture and cultural heritage, and our natural landscapes. We understand that, as responsible politicians, we are guardians of this common wealth.
