HOSPITAL, FIREFIGHTER AND LEARNING CENTER SUPPLIES

WNP is making a difference by supplying hospitals and health centers with various items. WNP volunteers know there are many needs in Nicaragua hospitals and fire stations. WNP will not supply all those needs at one time but little by little as a grain of sand in the right place is turning sadness into happy faces.

Doctors, firefighters and patients are happy. Doctors and firefighters are providing better assistance and the seconds after receiving these assistances, WNP as collaborator is helping to make this happen. Learning Centers (LC) have been receiving donations. As one component of moving forward with WNP, the Learning Center project is trying to be more effective and sewing supplies have been distributed widely into our learning center network. In June, LC representatives at the monthly meeting received sewing supplies and at the August monthly meeting they received paint. August 30 and 31, during the visits to the Learning center in La Gateada, Acoyapa and Juigalpa, the eight learning centers visited received sewing material boxes. As long as WNP warehouse has in stock sewing supplies, any LC coordinator can go to the WNP office and request the sewing supplies needed for their programs. List of Hospitals and health centers supplied this year by WNP: Fernando Vélez Paiz hospital. Antonio Lenin Fonseca hospital. Oftalmológico de Managua hospital. Psicosocial Managua hospital. Carlos Roberto Huembés El Rama hospital. Roger Osorio health center Managua. Moyogalpa, Isla de Ometepe hospital

During Dr. Brad Martin’s visit he went to Velez Paiz and Lenin Fonseca Hospitals. Brad could see the need for surgical lights at the Velez Paiz Hospital and helped to secure donations to replace their light. Below is a set of lights, now in place and being used daily. Brad is not in the picture, does not like picture of himself but he likes picture when donations have been put to good use.

Doctora Geraldine Cross will give you a tour where she works at the Velez Paiz Hospital. She always is ready to provide to Wisconsin visitors a tour and she our contact there at this hospital. Lights donated to WNP who then faciliated transfer to the Velez Paiz Hospital where they were immediately installed.

Aura Gonzalez Mora from Managua thanks Wisconsin/ Nicaragua Partners for the donation of a baby crib because it will be very useful once the baby is born in October. Dear Wisconsin/ Nicaragua Partners, receive my very sincere thanks for donating me an office desk. My kids (Maria Fernanda and Frederick Bermudez Carballo) can now use to make their homework, the chairs and the school supplies. All of them are very useful for my children and couldn’t have come at a better time. I am a single mother with no job and I couldn’t afford to get all of these supplies on my own. I’m forever grateful with you. Keep helping Nicaragua! Sincerely, Svetlana Carballo from Granada

Chief Lester Reyes, from the Fire Department of Nindiri , his son Jose Reyes and volunteers fire fighters picking up donations for the station at the Managua Office

On behalf of this institution we extend our most sincere gratitude for this nice gesture since we are compromised with the education of this country. Thanks for your great work!

On behalf of my family and myself as well, I would like to thank Wisconsin/ Nicaragua Partners for donating me 2 loads of cardboard which I used to make an additional room in our house. Thanks for allowing me to take this material, we are a poor family and wouldn’t have had the means to buy other kind of construction materials such as cement and, sand, bricks, etc. I don’t have words to thank you and your donors enough. God bless you all. - Juan Perez from Managua

My name is Geysell Angulo from Ometepe Island and I was the recipient of a mountain bike from Wisconsin/ Nicaragua Partners. Many thanks for this valuable donation, now I don’t have to walk long distances when selling my cosmetics products in rural communities in Ometepe. Thank you so much for helping us and helping our people in this country.

My name is Guillermo Jose Jimenez from Managua. I’m a night watchman of the enterprise Halcon, S.A, have two sons who attend high school. My wages are low and the expenses in the house are a lot more than what I make as a watchman. My old bike was damaged and I couldn’t afford to fix it. I heard about Wisconsin/ Nicaragua Partners in my neighborhood and went there and request a bike for my job. The least I can do now is thank you from the bottom of my heart for this valuable donation! A million thanks !

My name is Sergio Fuentes from Ometepe Island. Thanks to Wisconsin/ Nicaragua Partners for facilitating a bike for my personal use and also for my son to go to school. We had an old bike that was worn out but saved a few parts to complete the assembly of this almost brand new bike. I am very happy because now we have our own transportation again and will save some money in transportation for my son.

"People continue to ask, "just how do you think you can change the world?" My answer, I am not changing the world, but I can make it a better place for at least one other person. If everyone would do just one thing, it would be like grains of sand on a beach. One grain doesn't really mean anything, but many together can make a beautiful place to reside. " Sherin R. Bowen
