All calls made to the new Toll Number will be chargeable to the callers by their telecom service provider as per applicable call rates

Indian passport holders with valid US, UK, Ireland & Schengen visa can apply for Turkish e-visa, as earlier, by logging on to the official website. However, this e-visa has to be procured before leaving from India, i.e, before departure as the e-visa kiosks in Istanbul are no longer functional. Visit www.evisa.gov.tr for more details. Others can apply at the consulate before departure as there will be no visa-on-arrival service in Turkey.

DGCA - Domestic Airlines registered about 18.95% growth in September In a release shared by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Domestic Airlines registered about 18.95% growth in passengers flown during September compared to that a year. Indian carriers carried 11.5 million passengers during the month, up from 9.6 million in September 2017. SpiceJet continued to maintain its 1st position in terms of load factor by flying its planes 93.2% full. Followed by GoAir, which flew its planes with 90.6%. Vistara and Jet Airways shared the third spot third by flying its planes with 84.9% seats full. In terms of operating flights on time,

GoAir topped the list by operating 90.4% of its flights on time closely followed by SpiceJet that operated 89.1% flights on time and IndiGoNSE 5.39 % that operated 87.6% of its flight on time. The national carrier Air India operated the least number of lights (74.3%) of its flights on time during the month.

New Ropeway from Mumbai to Elephanta The central government has sanctioned a project to make a 8-km long ropeway co n n e c t i n g M u m b a i to Elephanta Caves. The project is estimated to be completed by 2022. The Mumbai Port Trust is waiting to get all the statutory clearances. Initially 30 cable car will be running over Arabian Sea, making it the first over-the-ocean ropeway of the country. Once the project is completed it will take only 15 mins to reach Elephanta Caves, this will give a boost to tourism industry

too. At present it takes 1 hour, and one has to take ferry from Gateway of India to reach UNESCO world heritage site of Elephanta Caves in Gharapuri island.

EVENT Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart to boost the tourists inflow to the state

Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart 2018 to boost the tourists inflow to the state. The event was organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan with the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan (FHTR) held from July 20-22 at the B.M. Birla Auditorium in Jaipur. The Mart exclusively focused on the domestic tourists within Rajasthan from various parts of India and established Rajasthan as one of the leading domestic tourist destinations in the country. “Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart is the

state unique event which initiates to boost Domestic travel and increase the tourist’s inflow both international and national. The mart witnessed the positive response from the travel trade and about 160 sellers showcased their product and services”, said Mr. Gyan Prakash, Secretary General, FHTR. Mr. Suman Billa, Joint Secretary, Tourism, Government of India said, “The vision 2020 initiated by the CM Vasundhra Raje had an objective of 5 crore tourist footfall in the state by the year 2020. But the state had already

attained close to 5 crore tourists in the year 2017 itself. The 15% of the total State GDP is through tourism. Tourism has won 45 awards over the past 4 years and 65% occupancy in hotels was recorded in the year 2017.” Principal Secretary Tourism Mr. Kuldeep Ranka said, “This mart is another step in the aggressive marketing campaign of the state. Rajasthan is a preferred tourist state both in terms of domestic arrivals as well as International. The connectivity has boosted the tourists to the state and we saw an increase of 64% in Jaipur, 61% in Udaipur, and 55% in Jodhpur.” The President, FHTR, Mr. Bhim Singh said the soul objective of the event is to increase Domestic tourism is Rajasthan. Skål World Congress in Mombasa, Kenya The 79th Skål World Congress was held in Mombasa, Kenya from 17 to 21 October, 2018. In 2017 Skål World Congress was held and hosted in Hyderabad, Telangana. Built in less than five years, it is the world’s tallest, grandest and giant statue. It is inaugurated on his 143rd birth anniversary on 31 October, 2018. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was the first deputy Prime Minister of India post Independence and who played a key role in unifying India. He is called the 'Iron Man of India' after he persuaded feuding states to unite and become part of the Indian state after independence. Statue of Unity is a symbol of India's integrity and India's unity 'Ek Bharat is Shreshth Bharat'. The statue is located some 200 km from Ahmedabad, near Sardar Sarovar Dam on Sadhu Island. The memorial features - exhibition hall, bridge linking the statue site with mainland, memorial garden, administrative complex- cumconvention centre, walkway, food court, four-lane approach highway, and a 52room, three-star lodging facility at Shrestha Bharat Bhavan. The statue has been designed by Padma Bhushan-winning sculptor Ram V Sutar and has been built by Larsen and Toubro and the state-run Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd. It took about 250 engineers and 3,400 labourers to construct the statue. This is the dream project of our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and commenting on it he said, “The Statue will stand high, not just in meters and feet, but much more in terms of academic, historical, national and spiritual values. My vision is to develop the place as a source of inspiration for ages to come.” He added, “The Statue of Unity is also going to bring prosperity to the tribals, farmers and villagers in this region. The Statue of Unity will help better the livelihoods of locals and tribals in the area. It will bring with itself, immense opportunities for business. The construction time for of the Worlds Tallest Statue was fixed in 42 months. ! It is built by Larsen and Toubro. The unique interactive platform with prefixed meetings gave trade partners and travel agents in the Indian market an opportunity to interact and learn more about the diverse product offerings and experiences that Oman has to offer. Oman offers an authentic Arabian experience coupled with genuine hospitality and boasts of scenic beauty, rich culture, historic monuments and a beautiful coastline. Her Excellency, said, “It gives me immense pleasure to be part of the tourism roadshow in Mumbai. The objective of the roadshow is to highlight the various facets of Oman as a destination and to create awareness about the new segments and offerings that the country has to offer. Paul Papalia, Government of Western Australia, were in India to promote the Perth City and the upcoming Cricket test series between India and Australia that will be played in the newly opened PERTH STADIUM from 14 to 18 December, 2018. Tourism Minister announced that Tourism Western Australia had committed funds to market Western Australia in India for the first time and would soon appoint a dedicated marketing representative based in Mumbai. Paul Papalia, Government of Western Australia, were in India to promote the Perth City and the upcoming Cricket test series between India and Australia that will be played in the newly opened PERTH STADIUM from 14 to 18 December, 2018. Tourism Minister announced that Tourism Western Australia had committed funds to market Western Australia in India for the first time and would soon appoint a dedicated marketing representative based in Mumbai. Paul Papalia on 25 Oct, 2018 also meet Hon Jayant Sinha, Indian Minister of

Abu Dhabi played a host to the TAFI Convention 2018 at Emirates Palace from 25 to 27 September, 2018. The 12th edition of TAFI Convention had brought together the key decisionmakers from the Indian tourism industry to exchange knowledge. The theme of this year convention was “Innovation – Transform – Disrupt – Redefining the Offline Travel World”. The theme brought together industry professionals from across the globe to discuss the impact of the digital world on the travel and tourism sectors. AVIATION IndiGo to fly Hong Kong IndiGo has announced Hong Kong as its 15th international destination. The airline will operate its daily non-stop flight between Hong Kong and Bangalore effective December 11, 2018. As part of its international expansion,

the airline also operates daily non-stop flights between India and Colombo, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Kuala Lumpur, Male and Phuket. The new flights are designed to cater to business and leisure travellers from these cities.

The 2018/19 cruise season kicked off in Qatar with the Boudicca docking at Doha Port. Of the 43 ships scheduled to call in Doha Port, 10 ships will be making their maiden calls to Qatar. And, with the majority of calls being megaships, this season is set to be the biggest yet for Qatar, bringing 140,000 visitors to Qatar's shores – nearly triple those that arrived last year. Hassan Al Ibrahim, Acting Chairman at QTA commented, "It continues to be an exciting period of rapid growth for Qatar’s cruise tourism sector, which will witness more firsts this season. We are pleased to see our local partners join in our efforts to develop services and products specifically for cruise visitors. It originates in the 13th Century and the Tran Dynasty and has undergone restoration several times since. There are some lovely carvings and sculptures to see. Mong Cai - This city sits on the border with China and is an important trading city. It has some large markets that tourists are certain to enjoy. It is coastal and Tra Co Beach is a great place to relax while the availability of accommodation, including a couple of 5-star hotels has increased the number of visitors to Mong Cai.
