We are happy that the Govt. is doing its bit in encouraging tourism. It has been our plea to unlock the huge potential that terraces offer by allowing them to be operated as leisure or recreational spaces. Sky Bars and Roof-top Cafes are an emerging trend across the world and Mumbai despite being the commercial capital of India lacked the policy for allowing these activities. This is a welcome decision which many International tourists as we well as Mumbaikas will appreciate.”

Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai Celebrates 114 Years Of Its Legacy The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai the flagship hotel of Taj Hotels Palaces Resorts Safaris– celebrates its 114th anniversary. One of the defining landmarks of Mumbai’s cityscape, ‘The Taj’, as it is fondly called, is the great and lasting legacy of its founder Mr. Jamsetji Tata, who envisioned a hotel that would set the benchmark for Indian hospitality. Ever since it opened its doors on the 16 December, 1903 The Taj has blazed a trail of innovation and excellence that continues, even today, to make it India’s most widely-known name in luxury hospitality world over. In June 2017, The Taj secured image trademark rights for its elegant hotel building and its characteristic dome from the Government of India, making it a part of an elite club of structures

around the world to have done so. This development is the latest in many firsts that the hotel is credited with. The Taj was Mumbai’s first clear landmark that could be seen from the sea and unknown to most, the hotel preceded the famous Gateway of India by over 20 years. It was the first hotel in India to have electricity, India’s first 24-hour coffee shop, India’s first Sichuan restaurant and Mumbai’s first licensed bar. It was The Taj that pioneered fine dining cuisine, in-room dining and introduced the butler service in India. And it was from the steps of The Taj Mahal Palace that Lord Mountbatten announced India’s independence. Over the years, The Taj has hosted the likes of Sarojini Naidu, Ravi Shankar, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Barbara Cartland, Bill Clinton, David Rockefeller,

Israel Records 34% Growth In Indian Arrivals

Israel, for the second consecutive year has broken its tourism record in India along with reaching a whopping 3 million tourists arrival mark this year. More than 49,000 Indians have already visited Israel until October, 2017 marking a growth of 34% from January to October vis-à-vis the same period last year as per statistics released by Israel Ministry of Tourism (IMOT).

Hassan Madah Director, Israel Ministry of Tourism India said, “This has been the best year of incoming tourist arrivals for Israel and India continues to be an important contributor for us. Our effort towards promoting Israel as a dynamic holiday destination as opposed to its otherwise restricted perception as a religious destination is yielding positive results and we are witnessing successful

outcomes of our increased investments in the Indian market. Tourism is an important contributor to the Israeli economy and since the beginning of the year; tourism has brought in $4.1 billion into the economy. In 2016, 45,000 Indians visited Israel and we have surpassed that number by October itself this year. We hope to have 60,000 Indian arrivals to Israel by end of 2017.” The trip started off with an overwhelming surprise by the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who met the couple and took them through a private tour of the Old city of Jerusalem starting with the Tower of David museum to the ancient fort that traces its foundations back to the Second Temple Period in the first century BC. Yariv Levin Ministry of Tourism said, “This is a special day and an historic

milestone as we break the 3-milliontourist barrier and we are set to end the year with an amazing achievement, the likes of which have never been reached since the establishment of the State. The huge investment that we are making in marketing Israel around the world and our collaborations with airlines and tour operators is bearing fruit.” The Ministry of Tourism worked with several airlines to increase their flights and seat capacity into Israel.
