Strength of glass When placed in the sloped roof, roof windows are directly exposed to all kinds of weather. Therefore the strength and quality has to be optimal. This also applies to the roof window glazing. VELUX has a range of insulating glass units to suit all your requirements. We recommend that you consider using insulating glass units with laminated glass on the inside for windows placed above areas where people sleep, play or work.

Toughened safety glass For places where there is a demand for increased resistance to eg. hail, wind and snow loads. When toughened glass breaks it shatters in thousands small pieces, thereby the risk for personal injury is reduced. Laminated safety glass For places with high demand for personal safety. Laminated glass is a combination of two sheets of glass with one or more interlayers of plastic (PVB). In case of breakage, the interlayer is designed to hold the fragments together.
Coating Low-E coating Low-E coating improves heat insulation. It is standard for all our insulating glass units. Easy-to-clean coating Minimizes cleaning of the outer glass pane. Gives you a clearer view in case of rain or dew on the outer glass pane.
