Mauritius

is rightly described as a paradise but this creates ademand for energy not only from its own population of 1.3 million but the million tourists that visit the island. Mauritius

is the only fully electrified African country using 2.3billion kw/h and currently produces 20% of its own energy from baggasse, wood and hydropower. However

despite the excellent National Programme for SustainableConsumption and Production, imported LPG, Diesel and other fossil fuels remain at too high a percentage of GDP

Technology and process 

    

Plasma arc separation technology converts electronic waste into precious metals which can be sold into global markets or used locally.  Separate waste technology uses a variety of processes including a gasification and arc technology plant which produces a net 12MW of electricity and heating 

precious metals 

The extraction process assumes 2000 MT per annum of circuit boards, leads and some batteries which will produce 

copper, nickel, iron, aluminium and some precious metals including Gold, Silver, Platinum, Palladium, Iridium, Osmium and Ruthenium. 

   

The gold yields from 2000MT are 24,000 ounces of gold per year on average with considerably more silver, copper and nickel  The value will depend on market rates for recovered metals 

WASTE TO ENERGY

A standard plant assumes 150,000 MT per year of municipal waste delivered to a central point.    It consists of a collection hall where the recylclables are separated, a gasification plant, plasma arc plant and power island.    Depending on the exact nature of the waste, it will produce 12MW of net usable energy and usable heat for distribution    The balance will be saleable recyclates such as glass and general waste derived metals.  
