Relaxation... At Innsbrook, It’s Closer Than You Think Sometimes we discover that life’s best moments are found in the simple things, like a canoe ride across a still lake, helping a child bait a hook, or exploring the edge of a winding creek. Families find these experiences – these great “life moments” – at Innsbrook. Innsbrook’s lakes offer water fun of all kinds, from sailing and kayaking to fishing and swimming or just enjoying one of Innsbrook’s 14 sand beaches. And Innsbrook’s lakes are safe, quiet and clean. Their “Silent Boating Rule” means there’s only electric, wind and paddle powered boats on the lakes.

L

ocated just 30 minutes west of Chesterfield, the Innsbrook community is the spot where more than a thousand St. Louis County families have their special spot to experience life’s best moments. Offering residential and vacation homes, recreational A-frame cabins, lakeside condominiums and low-maintenance villas on the golf course, Innsbrook has a variety of properties for every lifestyle.

Alive with Activity

Nature’s Best Set on 8,000 rolling wooded acres dotted with 100 lakes in the heart of Warren County, Innsbrook offers nearly 12 square miles of some of the best landscapes Missouri has to offer. And Innsbrook is an expert at the outdoors. They’ve been living, working and playing in harmony with nature since 1971. That’s when founder Ed Boyce began construction of the first A-frame (fashioned after the ones he’d see in the mountains of Colorado). Boyce is chairman of the board and still active in planning the future growth of Innsbrook. “After 41 years of recreating with Mother Nature, we know that she offers the best playground you could ask for,” said Ron James, Innsbrook Vice President. “And that’s why some of our most popular and cherished amenities are deeply rooted in nature.” Innsbrook offers seven nature trails. Some are time-worn footpaths that wind along creeks, some traverse prairie-like open areas, and the newest — the Tyrolean Trail — is a wider gravel path great for biking and hiking that takes you to the newest acreage in the community. Or maybe you’ll find yourself playing tennis or golf. The restaurant, bar, fitness center and outdoor swimming pool are also popular go-to spots.

Innsbrook’s lakes offer water fun of all kinds, from sailing and kayaking to fishing and swimming or just enjoying one of Innsbrook’s 14 sand beaches. Drawn to the Water There’s no denying that one (well, actually 100) of the things that makes Innsbrook so unique are its lakes. Yes, you’ll find 100 of them -- from private ponds to 236-acre Alpine Lake -- scattered throughout the community. “Our lakes really draw people to Innsbrook,” said James. “There’s something relaxing about water”. 21

Aside from the recreational activities, Innsbrook offers a year-round events schedule with happenings for every taste. Every summer weekend, Innsbrook hosts a free, live, outdoor concert featuring some of the region’s best bands. This year, you can catch jazz great Denise Thimes, the soulful Soulard Blues Band, and the everpopular Butch Wax and the Hollywoods, just to name a few. On the weekends, property owners and their kids and grandkids can also take part in Camp Innsbrook, a free program that combines art, nature and learning for all ages. This year’s schedule includes rock climbing, the Japanese art of origami and handmade musical instruments. “The best thing about Innsbrook,” said James, “is that families here can do as little or as much as they want with the common thread of doing it together.” Whether you want to relax on the deck of your lakeside cabin, learn to paint watercolor right alongside the kids or write in your nature journal as you explore one of the many trails, Innsbrook is a vibrant community where families of all makes and models experience life’s best moments. To find out more about Innsbrook, visit them online at www.innsbrook-resort.com, where you’ll find a full events calendar, current real estate listings, driving directions and more. Call (636)928-3366 ext. 199 or just come out for a visit, no appointment is necessary as staff is on hand seven days a week to answer questions.

Take a Seat in Chesterfield Form Meets FUNction!

hesterfield Arts offered local schools the opportunity to participate in the “Take a Seat” public art project. This legacy public artwork is a chance for students in elementary thru college to participate in the design and painting of a fiberglass-formed “Chesterfield” style of chair. Students work in teams to create a design or theme for their chair that reflects their school. The year-long project provided a framework for students and teachers to integrate visual arts, language arts, math, science and social studies. The completed chairs will serve as innovative “legacy” art projects and visual branding elements for each school to showcase, first in the community and then permanently at their respective schools. An unveiling to the community will take place at the Chesterfield Summer Concert on June 2 from 6-8 pm at the Chesterfield Amphitheater. Businesses may sponsor a school’s chair, and after the unveiling, will be the hosting location for a traveling exhibition throughout the summer. A locator map is available at Chesterfield Arts, 444 Chesterfield Center, and an audio cell phone tour will explain the designs at each location. The chairs will find permanent homes the fall of 2012 at their respective schools. The chairs are fabricated by The Cowpainters, best known for being some of the first artists that painted cows for the “Chicago Cow Parade.” Presented by PNC Arts Alive. his winter’s decidedly spring-like temperatures had many Chesterfield residents thinking well ahead to spring and strategizing about their golf plans for 2012. But with the St. Louis golf season squarely upon us, it is the perfect time to contemplate private club membership and get situated for a full season of enjoyment among friends and family. While private golf and country club memberships differ widely in price, those families willing to make the investment will enjoy a variety of perks designed to enhance the lifestyle of the individual, family or business. Benefits of any private club membership include ready access to amenities such as golf, tennis, fitness and both casual and upscale dining. Club amenities vary from club to club, but the centerpiece of each is the golf course.

seeking information about membership, make certain you understand the club’s charter and the financial ramifications those rules imply. Some, but not all clubs have additional financial obligations (member assessments) to address club improvements. Nearly all equity or member-owned private clubs require a prospective member to go through a process that includes having an active member sponsor the applicant followed by a club board of director review and approval prior to gaining membership. Other privately-owned clubs do not require the same level of vetting prior to membership. While dues have remained relatively unchanged in recent years, initiation rates have fluctuated dramatically over the past decade. In nearly every instance, current initiations are less than at their peak prices during the 1990s. Contact the clubs to understand the current availability and terms of membership. By Bill Burton

Ready for casual dining with a taste of another culture? Try Mediterranean Grill, a little gem of a restaurant located near Long and Chesterfield Airport Road, locally owned and operated by Elie Harir who is also the chef. Elie takes great pride in his work and his passion for food is what makes this place so special. Everything is made from scratch with only the freshest of ingredients. The restaurant features a unique menu with natural, healthy food- I call it Mediterranean comfort food! The authentic, reasonably priced cuisine is from a variety of countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. The atmosphere is simple with the restaurant having a completely different feel at lunch versus dinner. Counter service is offered throughout the day, but at 5 pm tables are adorned with black tablecloths, candles are lit, and sit down dinners from the extensive menu are served by the staff. For lunch, the gyro is a fabulous choice for the meat lover- stuffed with Greek spiced meat in a pita with tomato, onion and tzatziki sauce. Other sandwiches include schnitzel, chicken Souvlaki, Tunisian tuna and the house sandwich- grilled chicken, mozzarella cheese, aioli, mustard, sun-dried tomato spread, and basil. Great salads and soups round out the menu. At dinner you can choose from several great house specialties- each served on a platter that includes cous-cous or sliced baked potatoes, and includes your choice of soup de jour, Greek salad or two sampler size dips n’ spreads.
