6th Annual Ste. Anne Lions “Evening of Coffee and Entertainment” In Mid February The Ste. Anne Lion Club hosted a sold-out Coffee House, a packed house enjoyed listening to Patsy Cline tribute artist Laurie Sutherland at the Paradise Village Recreation Centre. The annual “Evening of Coffee and Entertainment” was well received by the more than 160 people in attendance. The event was a fundraiser by the Lions in support of “Accueil Kateri” which is the local foodbank in the Ste. Anne area. This foodbank serves up to 60 families on a bi-weekly basis with food hampers as well as cooking lessons and other basic life skills like how to budget and how bank accounts work etc. The evening also featured a 50/50 draw and a “silent” auction of some really fabulous gifts which were donated by local businesses and individuals. The desserts which were served were donated too, which allowed there to be a larger amount of money generated for the cause. The Ste. Anne Lions had an information table at the hall which was well visited and allowed us to extend the Lions story to the people who were there. A number of membership applications were picked up and we expect to be able to expand our membership because of this. All in all, it was a very successful evening and the foodbank will be receiving a generous donation from the event.
International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day was on March 8! Don’t forget to post using the #NewVoices and #BalanceforBetter, this year’s International Women’s Day theme. Take a selfie in the Balance for Better pose, demonstrated here by IP Gudrun! Visit the International Women’s Day site for more details.

A Historic Undertaking The efforts of Lions in the field of vision are expansive and well documented. Our SightFirst program has played a key role in reducing global blindness—building comprehensive and sustainable eye care systems, including projects that deliver eye care services, build or strengthen eye care facilities, train professionals and build awareness about eye health in underserved communities. Vision for All Since 1990, SightFirst has played a major role in helping restore and improve the vision of millions around the world. • US$318 million approved for 1,227 projects in 102 countries • 7.8 million cataract surgeries to restore sight • 700 eye centers were built, expanded or equipped • 706,000 professional eye care workers trained

Thank You From Zone One Thank you for your attendance at the Zone one Meeting. We had about 35 Lions/Lioness/ Leos present, with all - but two - clubs represented. Lion Ken Bauer did a great job, filling in on short notice for our scheduled program speaker. Lion Ken entertained us with “fun facts” on the Leader Dog program and reminded us that he’s available to visit any of our clubs. We also wish to thank our host, the Dilworth Loco Lions, who provided a tasty meal and delicious cupcakes, for dessert. Please mark your calendars for the Kidsight training at the Sabin Community Center, scheduled for 7pm on March 7th. We would love to have at least two representatives from every club attend. Sincerely, Brian Norberg Zone One Chair
Let’s bring the Winter family some good luck on St. Patrick’s Day! Funds go toward Aiden’s recovery after his accident. Free will donation
March is Eye Donor Awareness Month The month of March is a special time to honor eye donors and their families for giving the gift of sight. Eye donations are crucial for research and education, as well as corneal transplants that can help restore the sight of children and adults. Lions Eye Banks recover, evaluate, store and distribute human eye tissue for sight-saving procedures. Lions support more than 60 eye banks in nine countries. Recognize Eye Donor Awareness Month by contacting your local eye bank to raise awareness in your community about the importance of eye donations. How does your Lions club work to fight blindness in your community?
