Christmas Sales Success in Ste. Anne Lead to 2020 Plans There where a few successful Christmas sales in Ste. Anne this past month. The 8th annual One-Stop-Shop Sale was held on November 23 at the Ste. Anne Immersion School Gym. MLA Bob LagassÊ and Mayor Richard Pelletier came out to serve breakfast, food was raised for the local Christmas hampers and Santa was on hand ready for pictures with kids, young and old. Next year plans are made for Nov 21 for a smaller more cozy One Stop Shop with Soup and Santa stay tuned. The 3rd Annual Toy Drive was held again this year at the Ste. Anne Hotel on November 30 for the local food bank’s Christmas hampers. Special thanks to 8 year old Tony Roy who set up a table and sold Christmas crafts he made. He is donating 50% of the money made for the local food bank. He did great selling $100. The food bank can expect a $50 donation. His generosity is appreciated!

The Boer family presents: CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND! In support of Manitoba Great Pyrenees Rescue. Starting December 1st - January 7, come out and experience the lights & Christmas display at 46065, Hwy 302 North in Richer. Collecting donations for MGPR: food, toys, leashes, collars, clumping cat litter, any dog & cat related items. Of course monetary donations are also welcome & will go directly towards paying down vet bills for our animals in care.

Chicken and Dumplings Ingredients For the soup 2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil 1 large onion, chopped 2 medium carrots, peeled and diced 1 stalk celery, chopped 1 tsp. dried oregano Kosher salt Freshly ground black pepper 3 cloves garlic, minced 6 c. low-sodium chicken broth 4 boneless skinless chicken thighs 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts 3 sprigs thyme 1 c. heavy cream Freshly chopped parsley, for serving For the dumplings 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 1 tbsp. baking powder 1 1/2 tsp. kosher salt 1 large egg 2/3 c. buttermilk 2 tbsp. melted butter

Directions Make soup: In a large Dutch oven over medium heat, heat oil. Add onion, carrots, and celery and cook until tender, 5 minutes. Season with oregano, salt, and pepper. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, 1 minute. Add broth, chicken, and thyme to pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until chicken is cooked through, 10 minutes. Remove chicken and shred with two forks. While soup is simmering, make dumplings: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Make a well in the flour and add egg, buttermilk, and melted butter and whisk with a fork until combined. Add shredded chicken and heavy cream to pot, then return to a simmer. Drop spoonfuls of dumpling mix into pot, cover and cook on low until dumplings are cooked through, about 5 minutes. Garnish with parsley before serving.
