Soccer in Ste. Anne Booms

“It’s great to see not only town kids “Soccer Sainte Anne is in a growth see so much change in one season, year, last year we had 160 kids, this we are very excited,” said president of join but kids from all over the RM of Ste. Anne have signed up for the proyear over 230. It’s amazing for us to club, Dave Nelson. gram. We have players from Ste. Anne, Ross, Ste. Genevieve, and Richer,” he continued. Their mini soccer program is where they saw the most growth, with around 160 kids in that group. “We admit we are running into some growing pains, the amount of equipment needed for all of these players, specifically goals,” explained Nelson. With so many kids they knew more goals would be needed but when they started doing pricing they quickly found that having to purchase 20 new premade goal frames was not something in the budget. So they started to look

at the possibility of building goals. “We turned to the participants parents and community to see if wholesale pricing would be an option but even with wholesale pricing it was looking like we might need to build some this season and the remainder next season.” “Then unexpectedly I received the most amazing call from A & P Plumbing and Heating in Selkirk saying they would donate all of the pipe, fittings and glue needed to build all 20 of our goals! It’s such a great gesture and we can’t thank them enough for it.” “We truly live in an amazing community with great people. There are number of companies who have helped us out this year already and the season hasn’t even started. Tim Horton’s Timbits, T & T properties, Dawson Trail Dispatch and now A &P. Businesses like these are how we are able to grow and improve our program and we greatly appreciate all that they do for us,” said Nelson.
