Christmas Dinner

There was a man who worked for the Post Office whose job was to process all the mail that had illegible addresses. One day, a letter came addressed in a shaky handwriting to God with no address. He thought he should open it to see what it was about. The letter read: Dear God, I am an 83 year old widow, living on a very small pension. Yesterday someone stole my purse. It had $100 in it, which was all the money I had until my next pension cheque. Next Sunday is Christmas, and I had invited two of my friends over for dinner. Without that money, I have nothing to buy food with. I have no family to turn to, and you are my only hope. Can you please help me? Sincerely, Edna The postal worker was touched. He showed the letter to all the other workers. Each one dug into

his or her wallet and came up with a few dollars. By the time he made the rounds, he had collected $96, which they put into an envelope and sent to the woman. The rest of the day, all the workers felt a warm glow thinking of Edna and the dinner she would be able to share with her friends. Christmas came and went. A few days later, another letter came from the same old lady to God. All the workers gathered around while the letter was opened. It read: Dear God, How can I ever thank you enough for what you did for me? Because of your gift of love, I was able to fix a glorious dinner for my friends. We had a very nice day and I told my friends of your wonderful gift. By the way, there was $4 missing. I think it must have been the Post Office workers! ~ Uncle Erwin

Inspiration For Relationships To Flourish

The practice of having future vision with your partner can help to create excitement and motivation to share your dreams, goals, and passions with each other. This can promote an increased ability to complete the daily tasks and routines that may seem mundane – particularly if you are parents with a focus on the day-to-day needs of your children. We know this can take focus away from your relationship and may decrease the intimacy and passion you have for each other. Having a clear vision for your future together is a fantastic way to nurture your relationship. BE INTENTIONAL Plan little things to show your partner that they matter. Always make time to let your partner know you are thinking about them. Acts of Service – do a task they don’t prefer, scrape their car window in the morning, bring them a glass of water or snack, these things go a long way to demonstrate your love and affection – grandious gestures or expensive gifts may be nice short term, but the lasting impact and authenticity comes in the small gestures that truly connect you to each other.

Remember that FUTURE VISION we are working to fulfill? This can help to keep that spark to get you there! FUN AND COMMON INTERESTS People who are funny in the right way can keep their relationship going. This is one of the tools in your tool bag that you can pull out to help manage daily stressors. Those who demonstrate humor have a way of defusing the situation and making it easier to handle. Engaging in leisure activities with your partner is theorized to increase communication, define roles, and increase relationship satisfaction. A good time with your partner often leads to more togetherness and intimacy. Once your relationship gets somewhat “comfortable” -- which is really just a more pleasant word for “dull” -- it’s important to make a consistent effort to keep things fun and exciting. Relationships are all about growth, both as a team and as individuals, so instead of just settling for routine, try infusing some playfulness back into your life.
