Awesome Family Fun Night

The Children of the Universe Day Care Center held a family fun night and BBQ in the park on June 12th. The evening was very entertaining for all who attended. Attendees enjoyed train rides, bubbles, food, a silent auction, face painting and musicians. The fundraiser was a success. L Lots of families came out to take part including the Ste. Anne Auxiliary who came out to cook the hot dogs. The Ste. Anne Police showed up with flashing lights and informed the children they needed their assistance in finding a “bad guy” who was on the loose. The children found him hiding on the other side of the park... chased him down and held him on the ground until the police caught up so the kids could place him in handcuffs. The children walked the “criminal” back to the police car and put him inside. They were all very proud to have helped in the staged arrest.

Despite the rain, the Ste. Anne Canada Day event was well attended! Everyone enjoyed the day listening to music, dancing, watching the Wild Dog Show, Pow Wow Dancers. The wet conditions did not deter the soggy children who were running around taking part in the festive atmosphere.

2nd Annual Community Garage Sale Ste. Anne was host to its Second annual community garage sale on June 21st. The town was filled with garage sales on almost every street and there was no lack of bargain hunters as Ste. Anne was one busy little town. Organizer Melanie Gamache started the idea last year when she noticed other towns had a community sale except for Ste. Anne. She took some time to put it all together creating posters, maps and distributing them throughout Ste. Anne and neighboring communities to attract people to come and shop. “It doesn’t cost anything to get your sale put on the map, just send an email or give me a call and that’s it! I hope next year the community is more aware of the event and we get even more sales on the map and more people shopping,” said Gamache. During the community event a BBQ fundraiser was held organized by Cathleen Roy. The funds raised were given to the Ste. Anne Knights of Columbus (KOC). She invited families from the surrounding area to set up in her yard to make this a must-stop during the day. She organized a playground, face painting and henna tattoos on site - you could have a bite to eat and shop while your kids were entertained. “I can’t believe what a success the fundraiser turned out to be again this year. We ended up raising $350 to go to the KOC. Everything was donated for this event and I would like to thank everyone who donated hotdogs, buns, drinks and condiments. I also want to thank everyone who came out for some lunch to support this. We hope next year is even better,” said Roy.

A Little Laugh... An 80-year old man walks into the doctor’s office for his regular check-up. The doctor says to him, “Ahh, Ted, how are you feeling?” “Great,” says the old man. “I have an 18-year old wife, and she’s pregnant with my child.” The doctor gives a concerned look and says, “Ted, let me tell you a story. See, I have this hunter friend and one early morning, he goes out hunting, but is in such a hurry that he grabs his umbrella instead of his gun. So, as he is hunting, he spots a lion. He aims at the lion with his umbrella and shoots at it. Bam! The lion falls dead to the ground.” “What?!” cries the old man. “Why? that’s impossible! Someone else must have shot the lion.” “Exactly!” says the doctor.
