Skate with Santa Success On December 20th, the Ste. Anne Sports and Recreation Director Carolyn Cameron organized a fantastic skate with Santa evening for local families. There where crafts for the kids where they made magic reindeer treats with instructions for the kids to put out to feed Santa's reindeer on Christmas Eve. They also wrote letters to Santa and later gave their notes to Santa while they had their pictures taken. They also enjoyed time with Santa on the ice making this a very memorable event for years to come. Approximately 80 people came out to take part in this festive event at the arena.

Showing Christmas Spirit in Ste. Anne By Cathy Roy A local facebook group called The Rural Free Bin has put smiles on people's faces this past Christmas. The group, run by volunteer admins, put together 104 surprise bags helping 22 families in the Southeast. "Giving to others is my passion," says Rhonda Funk, one of the admins who started the group. The stockings were made possible by the generous donations of new and gently used items from businesses and Rural Free Bin members. The admins organized a coffee and dainties day on December 12th for families to come and drop in while picking up their items.

Erratic Zamboni Driver Faces Impaired Charges Ste. Anne Police officers responded to a report of a driver of a Zamboni displaying "erratic behavior" December 19 at the Sainte-Anne Arena between the second and third periods of the Bantam hockey game. The game was between the Seine River Snipers and the Southeast Blizzard. Martin Kintscher, manager for one of the teams, said the Zamboni was damaging the rink. "On his first lap he struck the gate where the Zamboni drives onto the ice, and broke the boards and also broke pieces off the actual Zamboni. One piece got stuck under the Zamboni, which left a ridge on the ice with every lap." The game was called due to the rough ice conditions and the third period was continued on December 21. The operator was uncooperative during arrest and refused a breathalyzer test. The driver was arrested on charges with impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample and resisting arrest.
