Local HSC Lifestyles Lottery Winner

A Little Laugh...

Anni Markmann of Ste. Anne has won the grand prize show home, worth over $1.2 million, in the HSC Lifestyles Lottery. “It’s very excited and hard to believe,” said Markmann. Draws for all 4,833 prizes were completed and winners were announced on December 6th. Markmann had to choose from the custom-built Maric Showhome and $10,000 in cash or $1 million in cash. Markmann has decided to take the $1 million. “I do not plan to retire from my business. love it too much and the people I meet, but I do plan to work a bit less and have Ruth, my assistant, work a bit more. It has re-

lieved the pressure of paying off debts and saving for retirment and allows us to share with family and organizations that we have supported in the past. I suspect many people from Ste Anne and area will be buying tickets next time! You never know!” Markmann stated. The winner of the $906,000 Falcon Lake cottage, also custombuilt by Maric, is Tammi Chard of Narol. Chard may choose the cottage and $10,000 cash or take $850,000 cash. Winning the "car or cash" earlybird draw, worth over $75,000 was Joan Kuivenhoven of Winnipeg. Glen Constable of Winnipeg won the 50/50 prize of $350,000 cash.

Anni Markmann and her husband, Daivid Andersen were the recent winners of the HSC LifeStyles Lottery.

The fundraising lottery raised over $1 million which will be used to suppport research to advance medical treatment. It will benefit families throughout Manitoba. Proceeds will be shared with community healthcare partners in support of the diagnostic and medical equipment purchases essential for quality patient care.

An elderly woman visits a walk-in clinic where she was seen by a young, new doctor. After about three minutes in the examination room, the doctor told her she was pregnant. She burst out, screaming as she ran down the hall. An older doctor stopped her and asked what the problem was, and she told him what happened. After listening, he had her sit down and relax in another room. The doctor marched down the hallway to the back where the young doctor was and demanded, “What’s the matter with you? That woman is 84 years old, and you told her she was pregnant?” The young doctor continued to write on his clipboard, and without even looking up, asked, “Does she still have the hiccups?”

On December 6th George Anderson went to the bank machine at the Ste Anne Hotel around 5 pm, pulled out $200, and went on his way. Only to realize later that he forgot to

take the money out of the tray leaving $200 for the next customer. The next morning Anderson went to the hotel to see if anyone had turned in the forgotten money, and sure enough, a Good Samaritan found the money and brought it to the staff at the hotel. Anderson would like to send out a thank you. “It was a great thing that you did thank you very much. Thank you to the staff at the hotel. Thank you all for your honesty.” Anderson said, “I have been saving for a trip and some of the money was for my grandchild’s Christmas present. I am very grateful for their good deeds.”

A Sunday school class studying the Ten Commandments were ready to discuss the last one. The teacher asked if anyone could tell her what it was. A little girl raised her hand, stood tall, and quoted, "Thou shall not take the covers off the neighbor's wife."
