Take Part in the Ste. Anne Town-Wide Garage Sale Melanie Gamache, a resident of Ste. Anne, often enjoys visiting local garage sales and browsing for treasures. She is a definite bargain hunter and is willing to bet that she is not the only one in Ste. Anne who enjoys the search for unique items. Other communities host town-wide garage sale where everyone has their sale on the same day/weekend and Melanie wants to bring the idea home. Melanie decided to organize a town-wide garage sale. It will be held June 15. She is confident it will benefit everyone, both buyers and sellers. “It will bring people into town to take advantage of all the sales going on and it will benefit all the people having sales with all the extra traffic,” says Melanie. “They are a great idea shoppers can go from house to house searching for trinkets and must haves.” If you’re interested in taking part in this great new town-wide event and registering your garage sale she invites you to go to her Facebook page created for the event… Ste. Anne Town Wide Garage Sales. You can also call her at 204-474-7874 (leave a message if no answer and she will return your call), email her at mgamache75@hotmail.com, or

reach her through Facebook. When you register, your address it will be added to the list of garage sales along with a map for the June 15 event. Maps will be available through the Facebook page and will also readily available for pick up at a few local businesses. More details and locations of the sales will be posted for this event once finalized.

Oldest Mother On April 9, 2003, Satyabhama Mahapatra, a 65-year-old retired schoolteacher in India, became the world's oldest mother when she gave birth to a baby boy. Satyabhama and her husband had been married 50 years, but this was their first child. The baby was conceived through artificial insemination using eggs from the woman's 26-year-old niece, Veenarani Mahapatra, and the sperm of Veenarani's husband. Most Surviving Children Bobbie McCaughey is the mother who holds the record for the most surviving children from a single birth. She gave birth to the first set of surviving septuplets - four boys and three girls on November 19, 1997, at the University Hospital, Iowa, US. Conceived by invitro fertilization, the babies were delivered after 31 weeks by cesarean in the space of 16 minutes. The babies are named Kenneth, Nathaniel, Brandon, Joel, Kelsey, Natalie and Alexis. Highest Number of Children The modern world record for giving birth is held by Leontina Albina from San Antonio, Chile. Leontina is the mother of 64 children of which only 55 of them are documented. She is listed in the 1999 Guinness World Records but dropped from later editions.

A Little Laugh... A couple was celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. Their domestic tranquillity had long been the talk of the town. A local newspaper reporter was inquiring as to the secret of their long and happy marriage... “Well, it dates back to our honeymoon,” explained the lady. “We visited the Grand Canyon and took a trip down to the bottom of the canyon by pack mule. We hadn't gone too far when my husband's mule stumbled. My husband quietly said ‘That’s once.’ We proceeded a little farther when the mule stumbled again. Once more my husband quietly said, ‘That’s twice.’ We hadn't gone a half-mile when the mule stumbled a third time. My husband promptly removed a revolver from his pocket and shot him. I started to protest over his treatment of the mule when he looked at me and quietly said ‘That’s once.’”

Rugged Country ATV Recycling

A Mothers Day Poem For all the times you gently picked me up when I fell down. For all the times you tied my shoes and tucked me into bed, or needed something, and put me first instead. For everything we shared, the dreams, the laughter, and the tears... I love you with a "Special Love" that deepens every year.

In April, Rugged Country ATV recycling a total of 1021 various sized batteries that the good people of Ste. Anne have brought in over the past couple of months. Owner Steve Belaire would like to send a thank you to those who brought them in and would like to encourage more participation in the great free service.
