Scottsdale Tummy Tucks

Page 1

Tummy tucks should be performed when you're at or near ideal body weight. It really isn't a weight loss procedure, and you'll short yourself on the result then if you have it done when you're still overweight. In fact, if you lose weight after the procedure, you'll have lax skin all over again and need a revision. It's truly best to get close to ideal body weight before you pursue the procedure, and then your surgeon can live you the best result. It can be difficult for patients to know exactly which procedure is going to provide the result they desire. Specifically when it comes to the tummy area, patients will frequently think liposuction's the answer. When, if you have loose skin or lax muscles, liposuction won't help you at all, and, in fact, a tummy tuck is a much better option.

The procedure takes between 90 minutes and two hours, depending on your size and other factors. You will be given general anesthesia for the procedure. You must stay over one night in the recovery care center, but you are allowed to return home the morning following surgery. Discomfort is controlled with muscle relaxants and pain pills. Drainage tubes remain in place for approximately five days. You are allowed to shower two days after the drainage tubes are removed. No lifting is allowed for six weeks; however, most people return to work after two weeks. Swelling may persist for four to eight weeks. The final results are very dramatic, permanent, and satisfying.
