CONNECTIONS

Eco Spots

Create a new access to water. Reduce the building area. Increase area with natural lighting

Create flexible modular DIVERSITY OF ACTIVITIES spaces that recreate situations in waterfront

NATURAL LIGHTING

Provide natural lighting creating openings in the building or usign optic fiber for the area under the building and pier

INCREASE GREEN SURFACE

Increase green infrastructure and public space in waterfront

Patty Chen Jorge Alarcon

Create “ eco spots”* for adapting architecture and landscape in site to achieve ecological animation goals. D. A platform allows visitors to get close to the wetland and appreciate technologies involved in the project. In order to engage the community with the project and reflect about the habitat in the site.

E. Parabolic mirrors integrated in furniture capture natural light and provide natural lighting under the building and pier. This condition is fundamental for improving salmon habitat. F. The center piece of the learning space is the wetland. It improves the habitat conditions for the salmon and other species of insects, birds, fish, etc. The structure is a group of bamboo hexagons that frame layers of mesh with soil. The plants resist salt conditions of the water such as douglas aster, salt weed, pacific waterferm, sea-milkwort, etc.

WALKING WITH THE SALMON

TEMPORARY INSTALLATION: • • • • • • • •

It reflects about the existing habitat in waterfront. It has a playful aesthetic that invites children to engache with the project. Invites people to walk under structure. It defines spaces, plazas, paths, etc. It is light and portable. Simple structure with natural and recycled materials. lt is the focus of attention during day and night. The topic of the salmon has a potential expansion in other contexts: save the salmon, salmon sourvenirs, audit the lamps, salmon day, etc.
