Burnett Camping & Rest Areas (Qld) 1. Carnarvon Gorge National Park - There is a day use and camping area with toilets, information, walking tracks, picnic tables, $1 coin operated BBQ’s and hot showers next to the day use area. 25’ 03’ 606 S, 148’ 14’ 300 E camping is only open during the Easter, winter and spring Queensland school holidays (book well in advance). Big Bend camping area is reached by a 9.7 km walk and is open year round. 2. Lake Nuga Nuga National Park - Take the interesting drive off the Carnarvon Development Road past Lake Nuga Nuga (24’ 59’ 514 S, 148’ 41’ 103 E. ) and back onto the Development Road. Most of this road is unsealed and unsuitable for use after heavy rain. NP bush camping is available at the lake. This shallow lake dries after extended dry periods. 3. Carnarvon Development Road Rest Area – 45 km South of Injune on the eastern side of the highway. Neil Turner Weir – turn north off the Warrego Highway on the west side of Mitchell (well signposted) 26' 29' 157 S, 147' 57' 585 E and follow for 1.5 km to the Weir. Shaded picnic tables, wood barbecues, bins, river walks, electric barbecues, toilets, grass picnic area and boat launch (dirt track to left just before you reach the picnic and Burnett camping area). 26' 28' 472 S, 147' 57' 351 E. 5. Fishermans Rest Area – turn off the Warrego Highway 5 km West of Mitchell (26' 28' 807 S, 147' 55' 928 E) onto dirt road and follow for 500 m to 24 hour Burnett camping area on the Maranoa River. Toilets, fishing, yabbying, bins, bank launch, wood BBQ’s. 26' 28' 606 S, 147' 55' 764 E. 6. Mitchell Memorial Park - Warrego Highway on the western side of town. War Memorial, bins, shaded picnic tables, electric barbecues, tap water, toilets, kids playground. 26' 29' 313 S, 147' 58' 340 E. 7. Amby Heritage Park Rest Area Amby - on the Warrego highway in Amby. Toilets, bins, public phone, picnic tables. 26' 32' 891 S, 148' 11' 263 E. 8. Amby Hotel Rest Area – (07) 4623 6800. Next to the Heritage Park on the Warrego Highway 23 km east of Mitchell. Free Burnett camping and showers for hotel patrons, breakfast, lunch and dinner, powered sites and cheap rooms.

9. Muckadilla Rest Area – Warrego Highway eastern side of town, 45 km East of Mitchell. Toilets, bins, hot showers, shaded picnic tables, kids playground, wood BBQ. 26' 35' 112 S, 148' 23' 299 E. 10. Wallumbilla Showgrounds Camp Area – western side of town on the northern side of the Warrego Highway. Miles Historical Village Rest Area – North side of the Warrego Highway on the eastern side of town. Miles Gil Weir – take the Leichardt Highway for 4.7 km south from Miles, turn right/west onto the unsealed Gil Weir Road at 26' 42' 078 S, 150' 11' 192 E and follow for 1.2 km to the weir picnic area. Shaded picnic tables, bins, wood barbecues, toilets (26' 42' 543 S, 150' 10' 773 E) travel 300 m past the picnic area to the single lane concrete boat ramp with bin. 26' 42' 435 S, 150' 10' 714 E. Target yellow belly and cod. 26. Charleys Riverside Park Rest Area – west side of Chinchilla on the Warrego Highway. Chinchilla Weir – 9 km south-west of Chinchilla on the Chinchilla – Tara Road, on the Condamine River. Archers Crossing Chincilla – continue south on Chinchilla – Tara Road for 700 m past Chinchilla Weir, turn left/south-west onto Avenue Road (26' 48' 231 S, 150' 34' 330 E), follow for 2.9 km and turn left/east onto Hopeland School Road (26' 49' 608 S, 150' 34' 940 E), follow for 7.3 km then turn left onto the unsealed Archers Crossing Road (26' 49' 919 S, 150' 39' 391 E) and follow for 4.3 km to Archers Crossing. 26' 47' 955 S, 150' 40' 766 E. shaded picnic table, bins, wood barbecues, Burnett camping, fishing, single Lane concrete boat ramp, south bank of the Condamine River.


32. Durong Rest Area – East side of town on. Bins, shaded picnic table, toilets, kids playground, next to Durong Hall and Library.

33. Kumbia Apex Park Rest Area – on the Bunya Highway in Kumbia. Kids playground, bins, shaded picnic tables, untraded tap water, electric barbecue, 2 nights maximum stay, power (donation requested), coin-operated hot shower. 26' 41' 542 S, 151' 39' 185 E. 34. Cania Dam Picnic Area – this lovely picnic area that looks over the lake has bins, electric barbecues, shaded picnic tables, tap water and toilets. 24’ 38’ 985 S, 150’ 58’ 899 E. 35. Cania Gorge Picnic Area – (no Burnett camping) on Cania Dam Road 10 km before dam. Coominglah Range Rest Area – 18 km north-west of Monto. 100 m off Burnett Highway. Shaded picnic tables, toilets, bins, unsealed rest area. 24’ 47’ 977 S, 150’ 59’ 082 E.37. Kalpowar State Forest Campground - (well signposted) turn East 5 km off Gladstone Monto Road on the north side Kalpowar. Camp 24' 40' 317 S, 51' 19’ 679 E. Shaded picnic tables, untreated tank water, fire places, toilets, fees apply. 40. Wuruma Dam – Burnett camping area and boat ramp (single lane concrete). Shaded picnic/camp areas, bins, fireplaces and pet friendly. 20 km west from Abercom and 29 km from the Burnett Highway (well signposted), 1 km of unsealed road at dam end. 25' 10' 841 S, 150' 59' 161 E.

Ceratodus Rest Area - north side of Burnett River, toilets, bins, shaded picnic tables, untreated tap water, electric barbecues, information and old railway station. 10 km from Eidsvold. 25' 16' 897 S, 151' 08' 352 E. 42. Eidsvold Rest Area - north side of town on the Burnett Highway, bins and shaded picnic tables. 25' 21' 713 S, 151' 07' 193 E. 43. Tolderodden Conservation Park - 6 km west of Eidsvold on Eidsvold-Theodore Road on the bank of the Burnett River. Self registration Burnett camping (fees apply), shaded picnic tables, bins, toilets, fishing and tap water. 25' 22' 638 S, 151' 05' 216 E. 44. Auburn River National Park Picnic and Burnett Camping Area, Mundubbera - 2 walking tracks, information boards, toilets, shaded picnic tables, gas barbecues and seasonal tank water. Gorge Lookout walk is 600 m return from the picnic area and is a fairly easy 15 min walk. The camping area has small fireplaces and is a short distance from the picnic area facilities (Fees apply) book by phone or online. Turn north off Mundubbera – Durong Road 12 km southwest of Mundubbera onto Hawkward Road and follow for 20 km, turn left/south onto Auburn Falls Road, follow for 6 km to the picnic and Burnett camping area. 45. Mundubbera Black Stump Rest Area - on the Burnett Highway 3 km north of Mundubbera. Shaded picnic tables, bins, toilets, kids playground, tap water and truck parking. 25' 34' 407 S, 151' 18' 650 E. 46. Mundubbera Bicentennial Rest Area - northern bank of the Burnett River on the southern side of town (Mundubbera – Durong Road). Picnic tables, toilets, bins, electric barbecues, kids playground, information and walking track along river. 25' 35' 753 S, 151' 18' 180 E. 47. Binjour Range Rest Area - 25 km east of Mundubbera, 20 km west of Gayndah on the Burnett Highway. 200 m off the highway. Gayndah Museum Park Rest Area - corner of Burnett Highway and Simon Street in the centre of town. Gayndah Zonhoven Park Rest Area - east side of Gayndah on the Burnett highway. Shaded picnic tables, bins, tap water, toilets and coin-operated hot showers. 25' 37' 744 S, 151' 37' 489 E. 52. Lake Boondooma – head north-west of Proston on Boondooma Dam Road for 16 km, turn left onto Boat Ramp Road (26' 05' 950 S, 151' 27' 858 E) and follow for 2.3 km to the 2 lane concrete boat ramp. 26' 06' 237 S, 151' 26' 602 E. Camping (fees apply), fireplaces, bins, shaded picnic tables, tap water, electric barbecues, kiosk, pontoon, toilets, hot showers, dump point, fish cleaning table and another single Lane concrete ramp below kiosk. Top spot for red claw crayfish. 53. Jack Coe Park Rest Area – junction of Mundubbera – Durong Road and Proston – Boondooma Road. Shaded picnic table, bins. 26' 15' 693 S, 151' 16' 239 E. 54. Photo: Beautiful Kimbombi Falls are a must see when travelling through the Burnett. It is one of the best Burnett camping areas. 57. Boat Mountain Conservation Park – very scenic steep and winding 11.7 kilometre drive from the Bunya Highway 6 km south west of Goomeri (4.3 km west of the Burnett Highway) to the conservation park car park. 26' 09' 898 S, 151' 58' 257 E. Great views over the South Burnett farmland. Elevation 534 m (car park). To get to the park and walking tracks turn north off the Bunya Highway on to Manyung Road (292 m elevation) and follow for 3.5 km, veer right on to Reifs Road (26' 11' 638 S, 152' 00' 068 E), follow for 5.3 km and turn right onto Daniels Road at 26' 10' 822 S, 151' 57' 479 E for 1.4 km then right onto Hebbel Drive at 26' 10' 103 S, 151' 57' 469 E for 1.5 km to parking area. Picnic tables. 58. Goomeri Digger Perrett Park Rest Area – junction of the Wide Bay Highway and Burnett Highway in the centre of Goomeri. Picnic tables, bins, toilets. 26' 10' 963 S, 152' 04' 113 E.


59. Kimbombi Falls Rest Area – turn off the Wide Bay Highway 6 km east of Goomeri onto Kimbombi Falls Road at 26' 11' 747 S, 152' 07' 396 E and follow for 4.3 km, turn left at 26' 13' 392 S, 152’09' 018 E (signposted), 200 m to picnic and camp area. Bins, wood barbecues, picnic tables, toilets, untraded tap water, 24 hour maximum stay, 100 m walk down to Falls. 26' 13' 292 S, 152' 09' 838 E. 60. Murgon Lions Park Rest Area – north western side of town on the Bunya Highway. Shaded picnic tables, electric barbecue, bins, kids playground, toilets. 26' 14' 295 S, 151' 55' 898 E. 61. Murgon Town Park - on the Bunya Highway in the centre of town. Toilets, shaded picnic tables, bins, public phones, tourist information centre. 26' 14' 503 S, 151' 56' 436 E. 62. Lake Barambah/Bjelke-Petersen Dam – turn west off Murgon-Barambah Road south of Murgon on to Haager Drive (26' 17' 966 S, 152' 00' 155 E) and follow for 1 km to the camping area and boat ramp (2 lane sealed). Fish cleaning tables and bins at the boat ramp. Dump point, toilets, kids playground, hot showers and power (for paying campers). 63. Wondai Dingo Creek Bicentennial Park Rest Area – north side of Wondai on the Bunya Highway. Shaded picnic tables, bins, tap water, toilets, kids playground, electric barbecue. Opposite golf course. 64. Wondai Gordon McKell Park – on the Bunya Highway in the centre of Wondai. Shaded picnic tables, bins, toilets, kids playground, tap water, information centre, museum, woodcrafters workshop. 26' 19' 100 S, 151' 52' 312 E.

65. Tingoora Rest Area – at the junction of Main Street and the Bunya Highway in Tingoora. Shaded picnic tables, bins, toilets. 26' 21' 780 S, 151' 49' 220 E. 66. Wooroolin Rest Area – on the Bunya Highway in Wooroolin. Shaded picnic tables, toilets, wetlands walking track, bins. 26' 24' 614 S, 151' 48' 944 E. 67. Cordonbrook Dam – 8 km west of the Bunya Highway (T/O 26' 26' 746 S, 151' 49' 272 E about 4 km of unsealed road) onto Recreation Road on the northern side of Mererambi (12 km north of Kingaroy). Toilets, shaded picnic tables, boat launch. 26' 26' 763 S, 151' 45' 236 E. The dam and bank launch were closed at time of writing due to algal bloom, picnic area was open. 68. Kingaroy Lions Park – corner of Kingaroy and Baron Streets in town. Bins, shaded picnic tables, electric barbecue, kids playground, toilets, dumb point, peanut photo board. 26' 32' 785 S, 151' 50' 280 E. 69. Kingaroy Memorial Park – corner of William and Haly Streets. D’Aguilar Highway Rest Area – 3 km south-east of Kingaroy. Shaded picnic tables, bins, toilets, 20 hours maximum stay. 71.
