WHO ARE YOU? My name is Paula Beltrao Zanotelli and I’m a Graphic Design student at the Federal University of Espirito Santo, in Brazil. Currently I’m a visiting student at Parsons The New School for Design, in their Illustration Major. I’ve worked some time as a web designer, making mockups for websites and mobile apps. Most of my works are illustration based. I’m a comic artist of 2 webcomics (Torven X and ONE of THEM) and I’m a illustrator of article covers for a brazilian website called GameBlast. I love to learn new things and to work together with people!

WORKS OF INTEREST From here I’ll be sowing some of my works either in the illustration or design fields. I feel more interested on illustration, so, most of my works are related to this field.

6

I made these illustrations with Brazilian Folklore theme, this big one is an illustration of Iara, a mermaid. The smaller illustration is Boi Tata, a snake who protects the forests. Both of the illustrations were made using Photoshop CS6.

7

This is a work for a brazilian design company, where I had to make a redesign of a brand. I learned a lot in this work, since it was my first time doing this kind of work. The brand had to relate to religious themes, so I used yellows and blues to link to the colors of Mary’s tunic. I made this using Photoshop CS5 and Illustrator CS5.

8

A comic work called Alone in New Year’s Eve. This comic tells the story of a girl who was left alone in the New Year’s Eve but, in the end, she had a experience of her own. I made this using Photoshop CS6.

9

This work was made for a client who is a photographer. Until that momment his business card design was very amatourish and unefficient. I made the main design to refer to the camera lens. I wanted a sophisticated look, but not to opress his clients, so, I used black and a very vivid green on the design details. This was made using Photoshop CS5.

10

The theme for the illustration was “A half empty cup and a half full cup. I decided to represent the pessimism and otimism using colors and lines inside the liquid drawn. Also, I illustrated

the cup half full with the liquid in the upper part of the glass. This was made using Photoshop CS6.

11

Character Design for an animation. The character at the very right was the first design. Unfortunately I thought it would be really hard to animate due his details, so, I had to simplify it, creating the colored character. All the animation assests were created in Photoshop CS6 and the animation itself was created in After Effects CS6. You can check the animation in progress through this link: https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=EHyXtISH9F0

These are cover illustrations for GameBlast website’s articles. The top one was mede for an article about playing video games as a couple and the botton one was about how videogames can make people from different ages near each other. I loved drawing these because I had the chance to try a way of coloring without lineart. These works were made using Photoshop CS6.

13

Posters for events at the dorm I’m staying at, during my sudies at Parsons. These were for Halloween events. The left one was for trick and treat we were hosting inside the building and the right one was for a horror movie marathon. Both were made using Potoshop CS6.

14

Vector work of Loki from the Avangers movie. This was my first time working with vectors. It was made using Illustrator CS5. 15

During the time I worked for a company I had to design a website for a religious group. I decided to go for a simple and sophisticated appearence the used some of the designs I also made for the rebrand of their logo. I made these using Photoshop CS5.

16

These are part of the webcomics I made. The illustration in the left is the from a short comic called “A Life”. It explores the past of a old woman while she looks at her photo album. It can be read here: http://rayandante.deviantart.com/ gallery/50544632/A-Life-Comic The page on the right is from a webcomic I work on my free time, called “ONE of THEM”. This is a story about a apocalyptic Earth that has almost no life and the struggle of a young mercenary to be free from the rules of that society. You can find it here: http://rayandante.deviantart.com/ gallery/46544943/ONE-of-THEM I made these using Photoshop CS5.

During the time I worked for a company I worked together with another designer to create an app for Android and IOS about biblic messages. It was called Bencao. I was responsible mainly for creating how the app wold work regarding the information within it, and I also crated it’s icon. I made these using Photoshop CS5.

18

These are fan art illustrations for an GameBlast article about what if soccer teams had pokemon mascots. The top left one is the mascot for England, the top right is for Mexico, the bottom left is US mascot and the bottom right is Russia’s mascot. They were made using Photoshop CS5.

19

Painting made using gouache. The assignment asked was to use only black, white, gray and one different collor of choice. I love drawing animals, so, I decided to draw thos wolf using the black from the background to enhance the lighter colors over it.

20

This piece was a drawing made using scratchable typography. My ispiration for ths crow was the poem “The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe. I had to think about how the form of each letter would affect the shape of the drawing. It was really fun to create!

21

The project I’m working right now is Hi Five, a game for Android and IOS created by Daniel Fernandes Ribeiro. I’m the artist responsible of creating the looks of the game. I decided to use pixel art, since the the composer, Lucas Hinz, also created the music taking as inspiration the retro video game music style of Yuzo Koshiro. These are preliminary screens of the game and they were made using Photoshop CS6.
