QUIZ ON PLANET EARTH answers. 1. Conservation – Practical ways for looking after the environment, similar to the belief in stewardship. Global warming – Earth temperature warming up as a result of human Co2 emissions and the greenhouse effect. 2. ‘The earth and everything in it belongs to God.’ – If people put the idea into their own words and include an example, key word or an explanation = 2marks, e.g., Creator – God is all powerful and humans are make in his image = 2 marks. However, ‘God created the universe, and everything belongs to him.’ – Only 1 mark. 3. Credit any reasonable answer, e.g., Oil Spills – Xeon Valdese harmed many creatures in the wildlife. 4. Credit any 2 good answers, e.g., Stewardship – To look after the world that God has created. Genesis – To have dominion over the birds, tress, wildlife, etc. 5. People must mention that Christians believe otherwise 0 marks a) the nature of the plant – is Created by God in Genesis over 6 days, b) the origins of life – 6th Day of creation – Adam and Eve 6. Copenhagen Summit 2009 – Brief explanation (1 mark), e.g., The leaders are meeting to discuss the environment. 2 marks for example or explanation. e.g., to agree a deal on climate change. 7. 2 examples, 1 mark each, but these have to be modern, e.g., not recycling, oil spills, toxic waste, pesticides, etc 8. E.g., diamonds, gold, oil are all natural resources and have been abused in the way they have been used and exploited by people. (1 mark for the natural resource and 1 mark for the explanation.) 9. The 2 reasons could include, damaging the environment, spoiling natural habitat, extinction of species, etc. 10. Give one Christian quote other than the one above about stewardship and explain its meaning. (2) Any quote from the Bible or a religious leader/authority, it does not necessarily have to be the exact words, but the meaning is important here for 2 marks.
