BURIAL
CREMATION
For burials in a churchyard or cemetery people are generally buried in either their own private plot or with their loved ones in a joint or family plot. Please note plot purchases only last for approx 50 years after this then another may need to be purchased. When not using an existing grave then a new plot will need to be purchased. Careful consideration should be given as to which is the most appropriate type of plot, one that will meet your needs. We will of course advise and support you in making this decision, ensuring that all appropriate documentation is submitted and that all fees are fully understood.
Cremations have become more popular. The cremation process is simple as well as cost effective as it saves land space. You can have more choices of Crematoriums. Statistics from the Cremation Society of Great Britain show 75% of people are now cremated. Cremation ashes can be buried in a burial plot, similar to a typical burial, but it is important to know that what you do with your loved one’s ashes it is up to you. cremations

Lawn Memorials & Headstones
Churchyard Memorials & Headstones
Lawn memorials are most widely known as standard headstones, this is because they have been the most chosen style of headstone for many years. They have become known as lawn memorials because of their placement within sections of Cemeteries and Churchyards known as lawn sections. A lawn memorial or headstone comprises of a headpiece and base, both of which are fully customisable within the Cemetery or Churchyards rules and regulations.
Churchyard Memorials are defined so by the material they are made from. Many Churchyards require headstones to have a natural finish, this can be achieved with granite if the surface is left in a honed state (not polished) however, it is more common to see the use of traditional materials such as York stone, Portland stone and slate. Other than the requirements of material finish, the design of the headstone can be done so in the same way a lawn memorial would be in most cases.
Watson Memorials has been created through a passion for delivering the highest quality Memorial Masonry. Visit our website for a list of services and our online brochure

Pre-Paid Funerals Having signed The Fair Funeral Pledge and now a representative of Safe Hands Funeral Plans, we offer a range of different funeral plans to suit all tastes and budgets. Each funeral plan can be tailored to suit particular preferences. You have the choice of either paying a lump sum or monthly installments. You can spread the cost over 2 yrs interest free with a small deposit. If paying over 3 years, 5 years, or 10 years, the monthly installments are subject to a flat 4% installment handling charge. A pre-paid funeral plan is a means by which you can fix the cost of the funeral director’s fees and services, meaning that no matter how long you live there will never be anything further for your family to pay towards them. A funeral plan allows you to pay upfront for your funeral so your relatives don’t have to cover the costs themselves - although they are allowed to pay for your funeral using money from your estate as soon as you die (and it’s not subject to inheritance tax) In common with all funeral planning companies, the money you pay towards your Safe Hands funeral plan is held securely in a trust fund set up in conjunction with an award-winning firm of specialist
solicitors, and overseen by an independent panel of qualified Trustees. Over time this money grows, ensuring that however long you live, there will always be sufficient money within the fund to cover the cost of your funeral.
Arrangements can be made in the comfort of your own home, just call or request a call back. (If for any reason our company cease trading then Safe hands would contact another funeral director to take on your funeral.)

What To Do When Someone Dies When someone dies, contact us and we will help you with a step by step guide during this difficult process. Whether the deceased has died at home, in a nursing home or at the hospital the certified doctor will attend and fill in a Medical Certificate of Cause of Death. Once you have this form you can then arrange an appointment at a Registrar’s office to register the death, you will then be issued a Certificate for Burial or Cremation (the ‘green
form’) which gives permission for burial or an application for cremation.
When A Death Is Reported To the Coroner doctor may report the death to a coroner if A the: > cause of death is unknown > death was violent or unnatural > death was sudden and unexplained >p erson who died was not visited by a medical practitioner during their final illness >m edical certificate isn’t available >p erson who died wasn’t seen by the doctor
who signed the medical certificate within 14 days before death or after they died >d eath occurred during an operation or before the person came out of anaesthetic >m edical certificate suggests the death may have been caused by an industrial disease or industrial poisoning
