A Local Family Here For The Local Community We are Gordon and Sally Haynes of Gordon Haynes Independent Funeral Services. We draw on our 42 years of joint experience in the funeral industry to provide our local community’s families with an affordable, dignified and personal service. We are approved members of the National Association of Funeral Directors. ‘Always going that extra mile as the smallest details matter.’
No Corporate Pricing As an independent company we are not driven by sales figures or targets that large corporate companies are so desperate to achieve. We aim to put families first without the hard sell approach. We strongly believe in keeping costs affordable when people are at their most vulnerable. With our 42 years joint experience in the funeral industry we have a wealth of knowledge and understanding and offer a modern approach whilst retaining traditional values and respect. Our funeral home is newly refurbished to a high standard and has modern quality mortuary facilities to ensure loved ones in our care are looked after to the highest standard. We have our own private chapel of rest to enable paying your last respects at our premises.
Our Story Gordon and Sally have been married for 30 years and have two adult children Lucy and Tom. Having being brought up in Mundesley before moving to North Walsham we have very strong links with the surrounding areas. Gordon’s father Roy Haynes worked for many years serving for the District and Town Councils. Roy along with his wife Audrey are founding member of the Bluebell Pond Society which can still be enjoyed today. After 60 years of marriage sadly, both Roy and Audrey passed away on the same day in June 2019 so as a family we personally appreciate how the loss of a loved one feels. Having lived and worked locally in the funeral industry all his life Gordon has excellent connections and relationships with the local clergy, civil celebrants, doctors surgeries, florists, caterers and other funeral directors in the area. Gordon has arranged and conducted countless funerals over the years and
prides himself on offering each and every family a personal, dignified, caring yet professional service. Sally has been working alongside Gordon for the past 12 years and also has extensive knowledge.
Types Of Funeral A Truly Tailored Service Here at Gordon Haynes Independent Funeral Services, we can offer a wide range of funerals to suit all needs. If it is a conventional type service with traditional beliefs we can arrange cremations or burials. If looking for a nonreligious type service, we can offer civil celebrants or humanist services to celebrate the life of your loved one. We are also glad to offer environmentally friendly burials or cremations offering a range of eco-friendly coffins using burial sites locally at Norfolk Bluebell Woodland Burial Park, Hainford or Green Acres Woodland Burial Ground, Colney, Norwich. We are able to offer traditional funerals cars or can provide a full range of alternatives to include motorbike hearses, horse-drawn hearses and alike. Extra touches to personalise your service can include Order of Service cards, names taking of attending mourners, dove releases, bagpipers and singers are all available on request. We also offer a Direct Cremation Service details available on request.

They have a brand new in house extensive show room housing a varied selection of full headstones, cremations plaques and stonework to enable families to select the perfect tribute for their loved one. We are able to advise on material, colour, shape, design, added inscription as well as renovations to comply with current churchyard and cemetery rules and regulations. Floral tributes Comparing Costs: In 2021, the Competitions and Markets Authority (CMA) ruled that all funeral directors in the UK must provide a standardised price list, both online and inbranch, to allow the public the opportunity to compare prices across the market. You can download copy of our standardised price list – see tab below. We are legally required by the CMA to use a certain pricing format that is different from our regular price list, but the fees add up to the same. You will note our fee total is listed at the top followed by the full breakdown. We do not charge for chapel visits, but the CMA insist on a figure listed, hence the nominal sum of £1. Direct Cremations- non attended What this includes: ♦W e will collect the deceased and bring into our care from within a 25 mile radius of our funeral home and within normal working hours. If collection is out of hours or carried out by another funeral home, there could be a small surcharge. ♦W e will prepare and take care of the deceased, provide a simple coffin for cremation and the deceased will dressed in a simple dignified shroud. ♦ Chapel visits are not permitted ♦ T he date of the cremation will be determined at the crematoriums and our discretion, and take place a crematorium of our choosing. ♦ On the day we will provide a closed vehicle and staff to transport the coffin directly to the crematorium. ♦ S trictly no attendance. ♦ You will be advised of the date the ashes will be available for you to collect from our funeral home or you may request for the crematorium to scatter them in the garden of remembrance. ♦ P ayment for this service is required at the time of making the arrangements with the funeral director. ♦ Direct Cremation Fee (non-attended) £ 1195.00
