MASTER THESIS – BASED ON A COMPETITION BRIEF (2016), GROUP WORK (3 MEMBERS) Wine presents the core of the design, so the production has to be clearly organized and uncompromised. In the same sense, different sets of experiences for visitors have to be continuously and thoughtfully built up. The production area is oriented towards North with an easy access for the trucks. On the contrary, the visitor facilities are located on the southern side, close to the calm residential area, with the best orientation to the remote views and the south-west. The orientation of functions in the transition zone is defined either by orientation to the street and incoming visitors (Office, Shop, Entrance), or by connection to the landscape (Restaurant, Framed View). The Core of the project is formed by the Courtyard and the Presentation Area.

During a disastrous flooding in 2013, the original bridge connecting main public areas was devastated. The new proposal opens up to attractive views and that is achieved by designing SCHOOL the load-bearing structure underneath the bridge deck.

Lighthouse Sea Hotel: Invigorated Heritage
OURISM
COMPETITION (2016), TEAM WORK (2 MEMBERS) The resort is making the most of the attractivity and natural uniqueness of the surrounding area by promoting the local heritage. It is situated on the edge of the cliff, exposed to natural forces, but providing a safe shelter for its inhabitants. Since the accommodation capacity is split into small replicable units, the design is sensitive to its surroundings and the environment.

City Gardens: Net–Zero Polyfunctional Complex
OUSING
SEMESTRAL PROJECT (2015), GROUP WORK (5 MEMBERS) This design focuses on bringing qualities of sub-urban living to a dense city center. With DGNB certification as a guideline, the sustainable criteria have been considered and challenged already from the initial sketching. The final proposal integrates solutions for quality of both indoor and outdoor spaces and meets BR 2020 energy requirements. Some of the features are showcased on the diagrams to the right.

The Sub–Urban Living IN A CITY CENTER
SECTION
From a distant point of view, the “snake's” geometry (see a part of the volume on the left page) creates two different spatial organizations. Firstly, the entrances are safe and inviting areas, where the motion naturaly slows down before entering the building. Secondly, the semi-private gardens serve to the inhabitants and offer much more informal interaction than the semipublic entrance area.

All together, the design merges the qualities of sub-urban living, such as “knowing your neighbour” or “safe place to play”, with the advantages of a living in a city center.

The connection of the exhibition hall and the river has been the most important parameter for the design. The exhibition hall is opened up to the watercourse where the ships are sailing, and to the outdoor exhibition area. Since this part of the peninsula is very close to the busy and noisy transit street, the decision to avert the volume has been made. In the area where the marina starts to open up and the distance from the road is increased, the visual connection is maintained. The Entrance, Café, and staff facilities are located in this part.

In order to comply with tectonic principles, the traditional architectural values (context, concept, aesthetics etc.) have been complemented with thorough evaluation and documentation. This included simulations of static behaviour, daylight studies, and acoustic performance of designed spaces.

The church hall forms the largest and most impressive space of the whole complex. Furthermore, there is a mourning chapel in the same building, a community center with activity rooms, and a congregation hall together with the staff facilities.

Design & Construction VARIOUS PROJECTS (2014–2016), TEAM WORK
Through my hands–on experience, I learned the importance of forethought details which often determine the quality of final construction. In building–scale, I believe in the power of BIM since I am an active user of ArchiCAD.
A PLACE TO ASCEND
DOG ARCHITECTURE
SOFA TABLE
In the course Tectonic Studies and Experimentation at AAU, the challenge was to design and construct a piece of architecture in furniture scale from two plywood sheets. The resulting structure is self-standing and the joints are manufactured without any nails or glue.
This project was an exciting opportunity to both design and construct a small house for a dog. The structure is made of timber frame, complemented with EPS insulation and water protection. All in all, the design provides a comfortable shelter for a happy, mid-sized dog.
Ordinary boxes from IKEA and passion for custom made design formed this table which we build for our living room. Its light, almost levitating structure contains a number of both hidden and open shelves which help to keep the main board tidy and beautiful.
