THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS

RYAN PERKS Managersnotes
Welcome to the Manadon Sports Hub for today’s game and thanks to everyone for the wonderful support we have received so far this season.
We were obviously delighted to get a win at Home Park last weekend against Cardiff City. Performance-wise, we have played better this season and not got a result, but the important thing was to finally get a win at Home Park in front of a decent crowd.

It was a good opportunity for the girls and now they have won at Home Park, they can hopefully relax and enjoy playing there when the chance comes again.
Today is the semi-finals of the Devon Premier Cup and we know we go into this game as favourites. We will rotate the squad
slightly to give players a chance to get minutes in their legs after a long break.
It won’t be massive changes but for those given the opportunity, we want them to showcase their talent. We know Budleigh will be up for the game and we will take them very seriously because we want to earn a place in the final.
We are delighted to welcome the Budleigh Salterton staff, players and supporters to the Manadon Sports Hub today.
Enjoy the game, Ryan
THE OPPOSITION
Budleigh Salterton Ladies play in the South-West Regional Women’s Football League and reached this stage of the Devon Premier Cup following a 4-1 home win over Bideford.

The Robinettes’ first two goals came from chaos caused in the Bideford area by Kirsty Brown’s corner kicks. Suzy Osborne was first to capitalise, before Jodie Millett headed home the second.

Budleigh were playing some excellent football against a spirited Bideford
outfit, with both sides well aware that the next goal was vital. When Jen Cordwell fed Kelsey Salter for the Robinettes, she made no mistake in making it 3-0 on 32 minutes.
A much more evenly-contested second half saw both teams get on the scoresheet. Kelsey Salter got her brace from a right-wing Maisie Smith cross and the visitors snatched a consolation strike in the final minute of the game, preventing a clean sheet for the Budleigh’s defence.

Argyle are through to the quarter-final of the FA Women’s National League cup after a thrilling 2-1 win over Cardiff City Ladies at Home Park.
This result marks the Pilgrims first ever win at the Theatre of Greens under Ryan Perks managerial reign, and a crowd of 1,518 delighted supporters were there to witness the momentous occasion first hand.
Zoe Cunningham’s penalty gave Argyle the lead early in the second half, although Cardiff levelled through Emily Poole just two minutes later.
Perks’ side, though, would not be denied, and it fell to the aptly named Lily Greenslade to score the goal on 67 minutes that would ultimately prove to be the winner.
Argyle’s homecoming marked the return of striker Greenslade and experienced defender Jemma Rose, who had been absent from the Greens recent matches

due to unavailability. Both slotted straight back into the starting eleven. Cardiff came into the match unbeaten in the FAWNL Division One South West, and had only conceded four goals in total across their season as a whole.

A very tight first half ended goalless, but Argyle will feel they had the better of the chances. Early on, Amber Pollock’s dangerous ball across the area was cut out well by the away goalkeeper, although shortly afterwards, at the other end, Argyle defender Panagiota Papaioannou acted swiftly to stop a menacing City attack.
Perhaps the best chance of the half came just before the half-hour mark, when an Argyle corner fell to Greenslade, whose driven shot was blocked on the line. Cunningham followed up but could only put her shot over the bar.
Just before the break, Pollock broke beyond the Cardiff backline again, and this time found Rosie Train’s brilliantly timed run,
but she too could not keep a shot on target.
The breakthrough came 10 minutes into the second half. Argyle won a penalty after Train was brought down just inside the area, and captain Cunningham took responsibility. Her penalty was slotted into the bottom corner, and the Greens had the lead.
Cardiff’s response was quick and telling. Poole received a loose ball inside the 18-yard box and quickly acted by firing the ball into the top right corner. Just three minutes after going behind, the visitors were level.
Not only did they have parity, but suddenly Cardiff also had confidence, and Poole had a chance to put them in front on 61 minutes, getting into the box just shooting high.
Argyle weathered the brief storm and regained the lead midway through the second period. Charlotte Whitmore got down the left flank and sent in a quality, low cross which found Greenslade, whose slight touch on the
ball was enough to slot it into the bottom corner and to make it 2-1.
There was no resting on their laurels for Argyle, who looked to get a third to kill the game off rather than protect what they had. Whitmore almost provided that, having two chances in succession that City desperately blocked and cleared.
With only a couple of minutes remaining, Pollock’s shot beat the keeper and again was cleared from the line, but Argyle had a huge scare in stoppage time when Jasmine Read made a superb, and vital save to deny Cardiff the chance of an all-important equaliser!
Argyle regained possession in the final stages of the match and continued to push forward into the oppositions half to extend their lead. The Greens could not get the third but it did not matter as the referee’s whistle blew shortly after, and crowd and players alike burst into celebration.

Host Families Wanted
We are on the lookout for local residents and families who have a desire to play their part in the development of the club's Academy talent.
The club is keen to hear from people who can provide a 'home from home' for our young players, with an environment which is high quality, safe and comfortable to live, train and study in for our scholars as they undertake their weekly schedule and fixture programme.
You will be required to provide residential accommodation each week during the football season, alongside a nutritious evening meal, occasional lunches, and laundry facilities.
We are particularly keen to hear from those who live in areas near to the club's Home Park base, including households in the Stoke, Peverell and Mutley areas of Plymouth. We would also consider some shorterterm accommodation arrangements for players on trial, as well as to cover arranged holidays of host families.
The club is committed to safeguarding and the welfare of young people and adults at risk and expects all staff, volunteers, and visitors to share this commitment.

Applicants will be required to undergo a full assessment with our club staff, including a home inspection and satisfactory and enhanced
Criminal Record Check before a decision can be made of suitability.
A fee is payable to the host family for the duration of the placement.
If you think that you can work with the club to provide the best environment for our young footballers to thrive both on and off the pitch, then we would love to hear from you.
If you would like further information about this opportunity, then please email Head of Academy Player Care Emma Potter on emma.potter@pafc. co.uk, giving brief details of your circumstances and the area in which you live.
