Welcome to the Manadon Sports Hub for today’s game and thanks to everyone for the wonderful support we have received so far this season.
Before the visit of Bridgwater on Thursday, we said it would be a tough game and we would need to be clinical, and that proved to be the case. It was a game of few chances and we were obviously delighted to secure a 1-0 victory thanks to Amber Pollock’s goal.
At times, we had to defend with great discipline and Jasmine Read pulled off a couple of great saves to ensure we earned the clean sheet our overall performance deserved. We always knew these two games in the space of four days would be important and it’s great to tick off the first challenge with a victory.
Playing twice in the space of three days is not a common occurrence for the team but their fitness levels have been excellent
all season, and we were fortunate enough to come away from Thursday night with just a few bumps and bruises, so it should be a full squad available tomorrow.
We have already played Cheltenham twice this season, once in the league and once in the cup. It is testament to the competitive nature of the league that we’ve won one and lost one, and I expect today to be another tight game, but one where we are looking forward to the challenge.

Formed in 1989 from a 5 a side team Cheltenham Town LFC started life as Cheltenham YMCA in the South West Combination League.
1998/99: League runner-up
2000/01: League runner-up
2007/2008: Runners up in SWWFL
2008/2009: The club reached the Vitality Women’s FA Cup Third Round for the first time as well as finishing the GFA County Cup as runner-up
July 2009: New committee formed and junior managers appointed

A back-post header from Amber Pollock ultimately proved enough to earn the Pilgrims a crucial victory over Bridgwater United at the Waterways Stadium on Thursday evening.
In a game full of tension, Argyle held their nerve in the tight moments to clinch three massive points in the fight for survival in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier.
The Greens made a bright start under the floodlights, Charlotte
Whitmore crossing for Lily Greenslade, but her header was narrowly off target. Jemma Rose was next to threaten, firing a well-struck free-kick inches past the top corner.
Bridgwater, however, were proving a tough nut to crack and largely limited Argyle to openings from set-piece situations. The next arrived on 25 minutes, Kayley Lane heading wide from a Katie Dickson corner.
The visitors made their first serious foray forward on the half-hour and goalkeeper Jasmine Read
demonstrated fantastic concentration and timing to race off her line for a vital interception.
Read made another decent save from a longdistance effort before the decisive moment arrived in first-half stoppage time. Whitmore worked the room for Dickson to deliver a superb deep cross and Pollock was perfectly placed to nod in the winner.
After the break, Rosie Train made a terrific surge from midfield and her floated cross very nearly picked out an Argyle head. The
Greens were then grateful to Rosie McDonnell for an outstanding recovery tackle to thwart a Bridgwater attack.
The closing stages grew ever more tense, as the visitors hit the side-netting from a good position but the Pilgrims held firm for a big win at a big time in the season.
